You don't need a HDMI port. You have an Apple TV box, and you can mirror or beam the content to the TV, no cable being dragged between you and the TV. Works with a Mac, iPod Touch, iPhone, iPad , no wires no fuss, just press a button
I believe Chromecast will do something close to it.
USB Port? What for? I cannot say i have had the need to plug anything USB into my iPad for the last 3 years. If its for data transfer like photos and documents use the iCloud. or is it for memory sticks full of pirated films?
It has bluetooth, and somebody with common sense would look at what they intend to use the device for before buying and buy the appropriate size iPad, either 16,32,64 or 128GB. I have as yet to fill my 16GB iPad 2, if i was going to watch a lot of movies on the go i would have bought the bigger capacity one. But even if they did get the wrong one the iPad will hold its value very well so they could sell it, get a lot of the original price back and they upgrade to a bigger capacity model.
In real life and not off strangers off an internet forum, the customer experience of an iPad is much greater than an Android based tablet. When somebody at work borrowed a work iPad 2 over christmas they could not believe the difference between it and their galaxy tab, the iPad 2 was so much quicker and more responsive disbite being 3 years old and running iOS 7 which did slow the iPad 2 down a little compared to iOS 6 (though iOS 7.1 has made it feel snappier again).”

I have to say, replies like this do frustrate me a little. Before I'm accused of being anti-Apple (which is almost inevitable in forums like this), I should point out that I'm writing this on a Mac, while I listen to a podcast on another Mac. I like - and own an iPad 2 - but I wish that people could make positive points about their equipment without feeling the need to decry anything else.
I could do that. I could point out for example that while Apple have their Apple TV device, many newer Android phones and tablets support Miracast, which is included in many new smart TV's as a connection option (we use it in our office on an LG Smart TV). I could also mention that while my iPad 2 is 16GB, my Tesco Hudl with SD card and HD screen, is now 48GB. It's not full of pirated movies either, everything on their - movies and music - is paid for. And, because I don't have everything `in the cloud', I can take it with me without having to worry about finding a wifi connection (which I personally find quite useful on planes). While we're at it, I could mention that most of the people I work with have Android tablets because the find the `customer experience' much more fulfilling than iPads. By now, I can guarantee that somebody reading this is now getting annoyed with me because I'm insinuating that Android is much better than Apple.
Actually I'm not. What I'm trying to get across is that whatever works for you, works. If you prefer iPads, great. If you prefer Android tech, no problem. I'd just rather people posted `I like my tablet because' instead of creating the impression that they're criticising anyone who dares to consider something different to what they have. That just leads to one big fight and if I wanted that, I'd go and find a football forum somewhere...
