Looking for a good reliable smartphone under £100 on pay as you go as I can't get a contract.

Have had a Samsung Galaxy Europa for a couple of years and it done me quite well bar some glitches like not being able to save texts online and also being very hard to download music onto (ended up using youtube mostly). Godd for surfing online though.

Just looking for one that can let me do the above well and download a load of music from my computer. Any ideas? Is the Nokia Lumia a good one?

Low end android devices tend to be massively underspecced (although not all) to the point of making some of them unusable.

I've heard nothing but praise for the Lumia 520 - definitely looks like a good buy.

My daughter has got the Lumia 520 and I would agree it is a good phone, I wasn't sure about Windows OS, so got that for her so I could see what it was like.

I liked the Windows OS, not as customisable as an Android phone (didn't bother me), so I went and got myself the 920.

So yes the Nokia Lumia 520 is a good phone, and personally I don't think it looks cheap either.

i don't have a lot of experience with smartphones so may not be the best person to comment, but my huawei ascend y300 has been brilliant for me.

I got it from phones 4 you as an upgrade on Orange PAYG. it cost me £60 and it's been mega, great camera, loads of space (comparatively) and running Jelly Bean.

Top phone for the price

yes.

Official Instagram is coming "within weeks" to Windows Phone/Nokia Although there is an unofficial instagram client that is now better than the official versions on iOS & Android called 6tag, everytime a new feature is added to 6tag official instagram gets the same features weeks later.

Official Vine is coming in the next few days (http://www.theverge.com/2013/10/22/4...s-phone-photos) although there is an unofficial vine client called 6sec (made by the same person who makes 6tag) which is better than official vine on iOS and Android.

Which other apps do you think you'll need?, most of the things you'll need are there.

Another +1 for Lumia 520, great build quality for a budget phone.

if you could budge up a bit more to like £130-£140 you could get the Nokia Lumia 625 which supports 4G which is a bonus, great budget phone with a large screen that supports 4G.

Otherwise if you really want to be under £100 it would have to be Nokia Lumia 520

OP if you want stay on the mainland with Android rather than try and land on the isolated Rockall like islet that is WP then Huawei Y300 as mentioned is good and also the Huawei G510 from CPW. You can get it for £89.95 as a PAYG upgrade if you have a qualifying sim. Both these will be a big improvement on your current phone.

I have a Huawei G510 and really like it. Bigger screen is also nice.
