I suppose it might be hard for someone who didn't know much about Ian to assume that his dancer's confidence and style - and ability to laugh at himself and be OTT - might be misconstrued as something else entirely.
Happily, as we all know, he is just as capable of sending himself up as any grounded, brilliant dancer with a wicked sense of humour could be.
And he has proved that over and over again with his celebs and has earned our love and respect over the years!

I think the topless thing might be a silent comment about an article in one of the papers (DM?) about the Strictly men being banned from going topless. I love Ian even though I have only seen him on ITT - knowledgeable and fun.

Yes, I think the topless clip was a brief and gentle protest/reaction to that news story.
(For those who missed the very beginning of ITT and are wondering why people keep referring to Ian as topless when he was quite clearly clothed during the WWW segment, he was sitting on the sofa topless when Zoe did her "joining me tonight" introductions at the top of the show.)

Think you're absolutely right. But you seriously need to catch up on some old editions of the programme (I'm assuming you starting watching after he'd left the main show?) because a lot of the reason for his general adoration on these threads is the way he interacted with his celeb partners. 'Twas a thing of beauty indeed and put many soppy grins on many faces Not to mention the legendary 'produces her breast' moment.
Oh, and he got some brilliant dances out of them too. Oh, how I miss him in that role

Glad most of you liked my topless nod to the comments in the press today. It certainly wasn't my idea but in the name of 'good TV' #bitoffun
