Apologies if this has been mentioned elsewhere - did a search first though. Also posted this on AV Forums.

We were sat watching TV and after roughly half an hour the remote lit up without anyone touching it, and it turned the volume on my Yamaha V3067 up by half a notch. That was yesterday evening.

This evening, it did exactly the same thing again. No-one was near the remote, and the hard buttons are not sticking. The curtains are closed, so there is no way anyone is playing tricks on us with their remote. It is definately our remote has it is lighting up.

Remote is 2 years old now. I have taken the battery out and reinserted and will now see if that has solved the problem.

Has anyone ever heard of this sort of thing happening with the Harmony One. It's worked flawlessly for 2 years apart from the last 2 evenings when this has happened

Unless they were stood at the window pointing their remotes at the OP's kit that is not very likely.

Most remotes are infra red. So tend to be blocked by brick walls.

The One uses IR so not possible though walls. And what are the chances of having the same model (or make) as your neighbour?

My One will light up if there is a vibration, the motion sensor causes it to wake up but it has never send a spurious signal. Perhaps the volume key is sticking and a small vibration causes it to light and initiate a momentary contact on the volume control.

Incidentally I still think this is the best value multi remote out there. I've had a look at its replacement, the Touch and am not convinced.

This hasn't happened anymore since.

The only thing that may have caused it was an iPad2 literally touching the Harmony One on the sofa (the metal casing may have been touching one of the Harmony's charging points)

Read somewhere about these tablets sending out surges sometimes.

I don't want to pretend I know what is going on or if I have jumped to the right conclusion, but I do know that since the iPad has been kept away from the remote, this hasn't happened anymore.

Should it start happening again without the iPad being nearby, I will update this thread.

ps. No snide Apple jokes from anyone, please. Let's keep this sensible

Spoke too soon. After almost a week of behaving itself, did it again just a couple of hours after my last post.

On this occasion, I had pushed the 'info' button twice, once to see on screen info and then to hide it again, and then 10 secs or so later the volume goes up half a notch......and then it behaved itself for the rest of the evening.
