You might have to explain what you mean

Going off at a slight tangent here but, do the majority of people really think of 'resale value' when buying a new phone?

I know I don't. I think of the phone as a two or three year investment in a very useful tool/gadget.
After that I either pass it down the line to one of my kids or it ends up in a drawer somewhere.
In fact I came across a bag full of old mobile phones in the garage the other day, the wife told me to bin them, but I decided to just recycle them the next chance I get.

That's a good point. Although with top end phones which are costing £500+ and many peoples desire to upgrade every now and then. The total cost of ownership should be a consideration.

Yeah, but so do laptops and I know my kids go through a two or three year cycle of new laptops with the old ones either broken or being left under the bed. Maybe we're just wasteful?

As far as phones go, I go for whichever one will do most of what I want it to do, that's why I haven't upgraded from the S3 to the S4 (to keep things on topic), there's nothing the S4 does that the S3 doesn't do for my purposes.

I'm waiting until next year and see if there's anything I want/need.
