MITCHELL FAMILY TO CENTRE AROUND 29TH ANNIVERSARY

The Mitchell family will be at the centre of the 29th anniversary of EastEnders.

In a press release issued this morning, a Mitchell family member will murdered on 19th February next year, exactly 29 years since the launch of the BBC One soap. Executive producer has revealed the show plans to keep the identity of the murdered Mitchell a secret.

“Albert Square will be rocked to its core next year when a Mitchell is savagely murdered, in what we hope will be one of the biggest years for EastEnders.

In order to keep it a secret the actor or actress will continue to be working on the show until the episodes air and we will be releasing shorter than usual spoiler information to the press so for the name not to be leaked.” - all_night, Executive Producer

It’s not yet known who will be behind the murder or why the Mitchell is targeted.

Interview - all_night teases Christmas / New Year

Christmas Day will see Carl White leave Walford, but how will be leaving?
Christmas Day will centre around the exit of bad boy Carl. Viewers will be aware at the moment he has disappeared after being stabbed by Max. Having Phil, Max and Ian worried about his whereabouts, they are unaware that he has an accomplice amongst them. As to whether Carl’s revenge will lead him to being arrested or killed, viewers will have to tune in to find out.

Is there a driving factor which draws Carl back?
Yes. After a disastrous year for Max and Kirsty, Max feels the only way to make everything right is to get married again to Kirsty. Hearing news of the proposal, this leads to Carl’s plans to get revenge.

What other stories occur around Christmas?
Dexter will finally confess to Jay his feeling for him. Initially shocked, there are some lovely scenes coming up as Jay vows to continue to be his best friend and help him deal with his feelings. It’s really sweet story about friendship.

Phil decides its time for a change at the Vic and ships out Alfie. The new landlord and landlady of the Vic will certainly be restoring order. With Alfie no longer running things, will it push him and Kat back together - wait and see!

And at New Year?
We’ll start to see James’ true colours as the constant bickering between him and Cory turn nasty. Janine ups her game against Billy and Lola, making their life a misery. If you thought Janine is bad, you haven’t seen anything yet. The fallout from Christmas Day will also leave some residents questioning if its time to call it a day in Walford.

What’s in store for 2014?
As i revealed this week, a Mitchell will be killed off on our 29th anniversary episode. We hope the audience are as shocked as we all were in the planning for this story as its going to, i hope, be the start of a dramatic year for the show. Killing a beloved Mitchell is not going to go down well with the family who’ll be determined to find out who it was and take revenge.

A new Walford day centre will be opening up, meaning Dot will be making new friends, and enemies. Joey’s recklessness with the females of Walford will lead to one of them falling pregnant. They’ll also be a wedding on the cards for one couple and suspicions in another.

Andreas Jancke joins EastEnders

German soap star Andreas Jancke is to join EastEnders as the new manager of the Minute Mart.

Jancke portrayed Gregor Mann in German soap opera Verbotene Liebe for five years until 2010. Appearing in early 2014, Terry Curtis will move to Albert Square as he becomes manager, tasked with overhauling the local store.

“I am so excited to be joining EastEnders, one of the most popular shows on UK television. Having worked on Verbotene Liebe for five years, i’m more than ready to take on this role.”

Executive producer all_night added: “Andreas is a great actor and the character of Terry Curtis will certainly have the ladies fawning over him.”

Jancke will begin filming in December with his first scenes due on-screen in February 2014.
