I have just purchased a humax HDR 1000 freesat box. I am unable to connect to the internet as the router is too far away from the box. Will I still be able to access the epg and record programmes?

Any idea what the best wifi USB to buy is?

Yes can can use the box as normal, just no on demand content.
How far away is the router, could you not just get a longer Ethernet cable?
I don't know too much about Wifi USB dongles.

Not all USB wi-fi dongles will work. They have to use the same chip set as Humax's own.

I use the Edimax EW-7711USn USB Wi-Fi Dongle.
These are less than half the cost of the Humax dongle

Or get something like this (G-band) or this (N-band) which connects to the LAN port and turns it into a wireless port without any limitations like you get in dongles.

The advantage is that you can buy a network switch and plug it into that and connect everything else, like your TV, blu ray player, etc, up with one wireless device.
