Just so some people get some perspective.

Android is the #1 mobile OS worldwide with 80% of the global market.

It is the #1 in every major market including China, the largest smartphone market in the world, where it has a 90% share of the market.

Google are now activating 1 billion devices.

And how many of these phones have been recycled or disposed of? Android could have 10 billion devices but they may not all be in use.

Anyway, nice to see you come back and ignore absolutely everything that was said to you about your troll post. Ive seen you pop in and out for days since you started this obviously just to see what you started.

The number of devices updated to IOS7 is a good idea of numbers. I'd be interested to hear how many Android devices have been updated.

No it isn't!!

You're still ignoring all the stuff that was said to your original post. How about answering all of that before kicking off another tirade of lies?

69.2% of Android devices are running 4.x, which is all that is needed, given that Google now updates core Android services separate from the OS.

Unlike iOS, Android users don't have to wait or update their entire OS to get the latest features.

I don't have to download the whole of iOS for the point releases .... its only when there's a massive re-write (ie. major versions, 6-7, etc.) that it downloads the whole thing.

Wonder if there are any figures for the number of people wanting to move back to iOS 6 after the iOS 7 release. I'm definitely one of them ....

I was seriously considering this on my iPad until 7.0.3 which allows the silly animation after unlock to be disabled.

Id be interested to see stats on how many Apple owners ranted on forums and started endless threads stating how bad iOS7 was before it had been released and then subsequently changed their stance totally and then started endless threads on how great Apple was (again)......

Mood swings, eh

Android is making big sales because it's available on many devices. I was referring to the popularity of devices in the UK not the operating systems. Only the iphone has the IOS for iphone and that is currently popular like Blackberry was a few years ago. Although recently apple's sales are said to be dropping recently.

With the widgets they are different to the WP live tiles. With the WP tiles they are small, medium or large where as I find the android widgets can make the home screen look cluttered because they come in different shapes where as with the live tiles are neatly aligned in their own square or rectangle. With live tiles you can put what you need most and make it 3 different sizes. On some other operating systems on the home screen they have the main apps at the bottom and you slide from left to right where as with the live tiles you can stack tiles and make them bigger or smaller and it is up and down rather than left and right. With Windows Phone every home screen I have seen looks different and I find I notice the what the tiles are more than with iphone and Android because the icon sizes the icons are the same size

Nokia Windows Phone's making a slow but steady rise up 19% this quarter, not sure about the entire platform though

There's not much dedication to WP except Nokia and MS. Nokia tries to position itself on a budget phone market and offer their quality for a very good price. Which might be a reason of the increase. I bet it's mostly due to Lumia 520. If I weren't such a premium phone whore it would be more than enough for me, too

Microsoft and HTC in talks about more devices and dual boot of Windows Phone and Android which should be interesting too

I can't see why Nokia would be on the way out, as the phones operate on Windows. Admittedly, their phones are as ugly as hell, too angular and far too big, but it's not the operating system that's at fault.

HTC people are desperate so they may well go for that. And if they can get a deal on licensing costs, it may be interesting. We'll see.

Atleast it would give people the choice. It's very false to say Android is succeeding as many people buy a "Samsung" or a "HTC" as they like the phone. They don't buy Android in the same way computer users can pick over Mac and Windows.

Considering Android has about 50 more handsets on sale than IOS it's no wonder they have a larger market share. Will be interesting to see when the 5C drops down to free next year how well it does. The 5C is already down to £27 at CPW I think so it will maybe give it a sales boost up against your mid market Androids.

It is some what of a monopoly that you can't buy a phone without Android. Giving users the option of Windows or even more OS's would be a fantastic way forward.

Except the 5C isn't really targeted at midrange androids ..... £469 starting price - midrange androids like the Xperia SP (£240), even the galaxy s4 mini is a fair bit cheaper (£350).

No monopoly at all, people can still buy devices running WP, Android, BB, etc., but then Apple also have a "monopoly" on their own devices. Why not allow people to run Android on iPhones, you know - give people choice and all that. Shame that the iDroid project appears to have stalled.

80%+ of all the smartphones in the entire world run Android.

I don't believe for a second that Android's days are numbered, but even if I'm wrong & they are, I will not be buying any Apple products.

I get ripped off enough every time I put petrol in my car or pay my utility bills, but that's because I have no choice.

Apple's products are far too expensive & if forced to leave Android, I'd go anywhere but Apple.

If Apple made an Android phone with a 4k screen out of platinum and gave you a £500 bribe to take it I still wouldn't be interested. I would rather support Manchester United.

If they offer you that and you still don't take it then you must have to much spare cash!

"It's a clear choice between Samsung and Apple now. "

Not everyone is suckered by brand labels, but yes, people will always like to belong.
