Advice Re Contract ends ? New Phone ?
Hi,
Really would appreciate advice please, don't understand much about this ... My two year contract ends next month, have a Blackberry bold 900 with Vodafone I'm really quite happy with this phone had no problems, it does all I need really and is still like new. Questions are .. Is the phone now mine to keep? if I start a new contract with new phone? as I got back approx. £80 when I handed in my curve at end of contract two years ago ... Do I save money on my next contract by keeping this phone 3. Am I missing out much by not having an iphone as most people seem to prefer the iphone I find this bit of a minefield, and feel confused once I'm in the phone stores ![]() Thanks in advance x |

The best thing i would advise is pop on to a website like phones4u and have a wee look at the phones. Then once you see a few you like, pop into a phone shop, tell the person to go away who will pounce the second you walk in the door! Then, go and have a play with them all. Windows phones, Android and iphones. Give them all a try and see which you prefer. Don't rush in to it and don't take the salespersons advice either. You make the decision. |

Great advice stiggles
OP - yes the phone is yours when the contract ends -yay! Regarding question 2, you will have options when the contract ends. For example, negotiate a new contract to include a new phone. Or, if you really like your phone, get your provider to move you down to a cheap monthly contract. Something you can get out of quickly if a better deal comes along. |

Your contract does not end, your minimum term has been served and you can now choose to end the contract if you wish without penalty.

Ask yourself what you need in terms of minutes, texts and data per month.
Go to giffgaff and look at the SIM only tariffs. If it appeals, keep your phone and transfer your existing number to the new SIM. It doesn't have to be giffgaff (you can look at your or other carrier's SIM only deals) but they do offer value and flexibility. When you do need a new handset, balance up paying outright for one (it doesn't HAVE to be a flagship device) and keeping your SIM only deal with embarking on another contract. Sometimes, it's cheaper/equitable and will be a bit more flexible. |
