I just want to know if anyone has bought a good pump action heat flask, its just with bills going up and up, I want to save some money as i drink a lot of "hotties" during the day, I am looking for at least a good 6-8 hours of minimum heat loss, or something that can keep hot for a good period of time, I like my drinks continously hot so the minimum of heat loss please many thanks in advance bbuk

I'm not sure if they still make them, but I've always found the thermos flasks with glass linings always retain heat the best.

Put the right amount in the kettle for one cup at a time so it costs the same - that is what my OH said to me when I wanted to buy one.

How much a day are you going to save with this hassle instead of using a kettle? 5p, 10p?

Actually if the bills get any higher (I am on Scottish Power then it will soon be 50p/£1 to boil the kettle, it was actually to save time as well, I am really a penny pincher when it comes to bills as I am on a limited income,

I've just calculated that at 14p/unit, heating 250 ml of water (a good sized mug) from 10C to boiling would cost around 0.37p.

Unless you are out and about, storing your hot water is a bad idea. You really need to pre-heat the flask, and it still won't be as hot as you want it after a few hours. Get a powerful kettle with a low minimum fill, and heat only the amount you need.

I've just checked as it seems low, but a full kettle (2 litres) is 2p and a cup about 0.4p. I'm amazed it's so low

I did neglect any thermal losses in heating the kettle itself, but the numbers won't be far off.

Still, every little helps, as they say...

I am surprised at the cost as well, but funny enough my mum wants to buy me a "one cup" kettle for my christmas, that only boils a mug at a time (see earlier post) so I think that will be my best bet????
