Hey guys was just wondering how her new album Alive has been doing, i know it. Went to number 3 but how is it holding up? How much has it sold?

Its got some poor reviews but from the singles its not suprising.
Wild- could be amazing song but by having 2 rappers it sounds a mess and is drained of its epicness!

Its my party- i genuinely think this is one of the worst songs of the year, it sounds like an awful version of raise your glass by P!nk ( i like most pop fans love p!nk!).

This era has been crap so far, especially for someone of her popularity and the so called biggest british female popstar of the new generation.

Dissapointing.

I believe it has managed over 100k, but the singles haven't helped personal and also imo, it does fall into the sophormore slump with such average material. I seriously doubt she will top her debut album's sales which stand at over 1 million.

Just underperformed I'd say.

She's just 'evened out'. She had an unnaturally auspicious start thanks to marketing shoving her down everyone's throats like she was a huge deal right out of the gate.

Now she's what she actually is: a mid-level pop star.

Plus take into account low album sales it is indeed very unlikely. mind you with good album sales i would have said at a push 2x platinum but not more.

I could be wrong when I say this but I really think her two year stint on 'The Voice' damaged her career or at least didn't help it. Sometimes exposure of certain singers/celebrities does wonders for some, but I really think the exposure of Jessie on the show wasn't what people liked as much.

I couldn't agree more.

I agree. She was hailed as the second coming of pop music by some and I don't know why. She's only a rather average popstar with bland material. When I first heard her I thought she sounded like Natasha Bedingfield with slightly different music.

That 100k must be shipped figures because the album hasn't sold anything like 100k (to end users) so far. By the end of the second week her cumulative sales were just shy of 54k and since then the albums' been out of the Top 10 and even the 10th place album has sold less than 8000. I reckon no more than 65k actual sales in the month since release (her debut sold 40k more than that in its first week).

It's pretty much a disaster to be honest given her huge (and prolonged) TV exposure.

I suppose it's a bit like Gaga: huge expectations, so it was bound to be perceived as bad.

But those sale numbers really don't seem that great however you look at them...

It's My Party is awful but only because of how she sings it. She screeches all over it when it could be sing normally. It's very similar to "Sexy Lady" which is a track off her album (and on the Boots advert), but on Sexy Lady she actually sings rather than screeches. If she'd have sung it more like that, it'd be more of a success, and the album would have done better.

It doesn't help that album sales are at their lowest point in quite a few years i think we had several consequtive weeks where the #1 album broke the record of lowest ever sales. The first single also went for the OA/OS approach which is never a good idea and IMP wasn't a particulary strong single to lead an album (imo)

I wonder why people on here hate her so much? I know she screeches on songs and so on but the amount of hate from people is unbelieveable.

It's far too early to declare Alive a flop; we're only two singles in with Christmas just around the corner as well. But there's no denying it's performance so far has been massively disappointing, or that Jessie is looking at a huge drop in sales regardless. Best case scenario Alive will sell half of Who You Are's 1.2m - most likely scenario, it will sell but a quarter.

At the moment I think even 1x platinum would be a major achievement. It would require at least one future single from the album to really click with the GP. She still seems to be a decent draw live though - her Arena tour looks well supported.

Agree 100% with this. she wouldn't have jumped ship if she thought it was benefiting her career. Jessie needs to learn less is often more in terms of over singing and over exposure.

Indeed. I went to see her on Thursday and the arena was absolutely jam packed.

This is just my personal opinion, but Jessie J always comes across as somebody who thinks she much better then she actually is. Reading or watching her interviews just make me cringe. The interview the other week where she said something like 'People want the old Jessie J back'... Really? Meh, get over yourself!

She's just a popstar with an admittedly good voice but totally bland material. The album and singles have all performed pretty much as they deserved too - well, but nothing exceptional.

I think her stint on the Voice have her a very inflated opinion of herself.

She's a closeted lesbian with no sex appeal: men don't fancy her and women don't want to look like her. It's only pretty girls with hot bodies who do well in this industry. Even cosmetic surgery couldn't salvage her overbite and flat nose.

People have finally started to realise how overhyped, average, bland and soulless her music actually is.

Well judging how dreadful it was, the rap IMPROVES it!

She isn't closeted. She had admitted she likes both. But most people behind the scenes know she is a Lesbian, but sadly, i can imagine her label and her management making her play the "Bisexual" card to avoid a backlash and a harm in her career. Although it never did Will young any harm.
