I know what you mean he comes across a bit like a bad loser at times.
I don't think he does at all, he is one of the few pros who does not want to go further in the competition than he and his partner should, the topic has come up several times over the years.
However, I think they were disappointed on Saturday because apparently training and all rehearsals had gone well. I see nothing wrong with telling the judges they got steps wrong - others do it too. I don't believe in the adage that pros should be seen and not heard, as long as they remain respectful.

I get that if you get some steps wrong, it can throw you off but her whole routine was terrible, I can't believe that she was doing a decent jive in rehearsals, there was no technique at all on Saturday night!

Looked like she did 99% of the steps correctly just not with any conviction or technique.

I really do wonder what Brendan is teaching her. She can look wonderful with the right dance, so why is she so lame in Latin?

I also find it a bit weird that Brendan insisted that the dress rehearsal went well and that it was just missing a couple of steps that threw her off. I didn't think any of the training footage shown on ITT looked that good and I didn't think it was noticeable that she forgot any of the routine on the night. I agree with Monoagg, it looked like she did most of the steps, just with very poor technique.

I do wonder what the routine should have looked like according to Brendan. If only we could see that dress rehearsal.

Many have said that there have always been question marks over his teaching ability.

I'm watching It Takes Two at the moment, the link I'm trying to find at the moment is the one to the poor swan they showed on Sky News today, although it is only fair to point out that Brenden was not involved in any way.

24 hours isn't enough time for someone who spends hours online to find a link to support a spurious claim?

Tells me something.

I actually spend very little time on the internet with this current very slow connection I have.

I'm still trying to work out why he thought their training dance was so good, to my albeit untrained eyes it didn't really look all that special, I don't know what you think about that.

Err... she's supposed to do the dances, not some 'Debbie Harry' lifting her arm and leg in a random manner.

I don't know if her style and ideas sort of 'fit' really. Certainly not in Latin where she doesn't seem to understand what its about at all.

And that can't really be Brendan's fault, she's not stupid after all, and youtube is a click away.

I suppose I meant will he be on the defensive tonight about Saturday's dance like he was in front of the judges. I can't see how he can say it was great in rehearsals. Nothing about that dance Saturday night was great, not even in patches, you can make a mistake, forget a step etc...but the whole technique for the whole dance? I find that bizaare.

Terry sorry I have caused you an evening of thinking and pondering. Brenoon has a talented attractive partner but I sense she has her own mind and ideas and is not a malleable puppet. Perhaps that does not suit the maestro. Either that or she felt disgusted by being forced to dress up as a red beetle and that put her off.

That's alright belmontbabe, I'm OK with a bit of pondering, I think you are right Sophie is an established performer and entertainer in her own right, with her own mind and used to making her own decisions, I don't blame her, why should she have to act like a malleable puppet having to worship at the alter of his over inflated ego, and dress up as a red beetle, no wonder she looks fed up and disinterested at times, especially if he has had tantrum from not being adored by her, who knows what goes on behind the scenes belmontbabe

I couldn't stand him in the early years. Then he partnered Jo Wood and revealed a different side to himself. He was encouraging and sweet and protective. I began to see Brendan in a new light. And when he got married he mellowed out even more. Now I think he's great!
I thought Brendan was outstanding tonight - and I'm not a fan as such (I like him, but I'm not a 'fan').

Plus it's years now since I've thought his choreography was a factor in his celeb not producing a good performance.
Never liked him before the last two series, but now I think he's great. I do think he's calmed down on his smugness.
all of this. couldnt stand him up till the past couple of series. i liked it when he thanked the production team for last weeks show. he was the only one who did that i think

Yes I agree that was nice of him to thank the production team, being the only one to do so inevitably put him in the spotlight, quite a shrewd move.

Wonderful choreography which was danced beautifully. Sophie is so elegant and I thought some of the judge's comments were a bit strong.

If you would just put aside your anti-Brendan prejudice for once, you would see a beautiful routine where Sophie was just as much in the limelight as Brendan - they make a great team
