You realise having an AMAZING soulful, note perfect, powerful, effortless voice IS having star quality.

So that old arguement is stupid

I disagree, there are plenty of fantastic singers who have failed on X Factor because the public just don't take to them. There's only one reason for that and it ain't the voice.

When I was in LA there were girls waiting tables then getting up to sing with better voices than Hannah. Sorry but talent isn't everything, that is why it's called the X factor. Britney, Madonna, Robbie...not great singers but huge charisma.

Disagree Having amazing voice does not make you a Star. There is plenty of people out there that have amazing voices & fail to become Stars & the reverse is true there is plenty of people that cant sing/have ok voices that have become Stars

If it is ALL about having a fabulous voice then why aren't we all just listening to Pavarotti and nothing else? The Beatles, Michael Jackson, Madonna etc weren't the greatest singers but it was about the whole package and the SONGS. Will always remember great songs before great singers. There's great singers in pubs up and down the country.

Celine Dion, Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey all became stars because of their amazing voices. The voice is what made them all, without it they wouldn't have been 3 of the highest selling women of all time.

And if we're being complete honest Mariah has no personality.

Absolutely not. There are tons of people out there with amazing voices. the singer has to connect...period... for any career to last beyond the hype of a show. That's why so many popstars are disposable.

No it isn't. There are plenty of people who are note perfect who would not hold a room.

OP was saying an amazing voice is star quality which isnt always the case so my Point is & was an Amazing voice doesnt mean you will become a star. Michael Jackson One Direction The Beatles to name a few didnt have amazing voices but are/were all Stars

Can an amazing voice make you a star yes. But an amazing voice doesnt necessarily mean you will become a star

80's and 90's are history. It's 2013 and these days just having a good voice won't make you a star.

Star quality means nothing in X Factor.

Rylan has star quality, but hasn't sold a single record.

You cant have just a voice. You need to be a performer as well.

One Direction can't sing a note between them but they're doing alright. Meanwhile, Leona and Alexandra are both struggling.

Why not though? Have people's standards for talent dropped? Or is it a case that no one is prepared to put the work into being a great vocalist?
This argument of "Having a good voice is not enough" is basically a cop out excuse for "artists" that can't sing. Give me an incredible vocalist singing in a small venue over some over rated "star" who mimes an entire show in an arena any day .

No. Perfection is not necessarily what is desirable in a pop star. In fact it could be off-putting. Star quality, charisma, je ne sais quoi, stage presence whatever you call it they are things you either have or you do not. Mick Jagger and Marc Bolan are two examples. Decent enough singers but not perfect. Bolan had a bit of a weak voice really. Both are/were amazing performers who had audiences enthralled. I don't think anyone was analysing their vocals to be honest.

Putting a song across isn't about having a great voice or technique or diction. It's arbour performance and charisma. Of course, you can't sing the big songs if your voice is small but a huge voice without personality or emotional intelligence will never move the audience.

its not though. There is plenty of Great Vocalist's out there that have failed to make it big & people that cant even sing make it big look at One Direction none of them can sing at all yet there currently the biggest boyband in the world.

Id take an incredible vocalist singing in a small venue any day of the week aswell But for whatever reason the way the iindustry is right now being a Great Vocalist alone doesnt equal becoming a Star

Well of course you can't just be a great singer, you have to the material to make people want to buy your music too. It just bothers me when certain artists break into the industry with literally zero talent and a pretty face when there are amazing singers who don't.
