Bummer!

From Wiki :
In April 2013 Reed underwent a liver transplant in Cleveland.[45] Afterward, he claimed on his website to be 'bigger and stronger' than ever

Tut.. that's sad. Velvet Underground influenced so many bands... Think I'm gonna go listen to Dirty Boulevard now... thanks for the music, Lou

It seems to be true.

If so, a sad loss to the world of music. Some amazing songs.

Can't see anything on the BBC site. Didn't he have a liver transplant not long back? Wonder if it was complications due to that.

Sad news. The Velvet Underground were awesome.

This is so sad, he features on the Killers Tranquilize, that's how I came to know more about him.

RIP.

He just seemed so youthful, I remember one year OH got given a ticket to go and see him, was gutted I couldn't go so he rang me so I could hear the whole set.

Ouch.

First Velvet's album and, particularly, the eponymous third album were a big part of my formative years. Always admired Laurie Anderson as an artist too, so thoughts are with her. Vey sad. RIP, you difficult trailblazer.

I feel awful posting it really, I'm not into grief porn, but I know he was a true legend.
