Will Alan get the sad piano music or the original Emmerdale theme tune played over the credits? :/ i'm afraid the normal music will be used because of the other drama happening in that episode :/

I really hope they do something :/ its only a half an hour episode... Jack and Seth got an hour dedicated to them. They should of put this episode on a Thursday instead.

But I would be really shocked if the sad theme wasn't played over the credits :/

Original theme please - he's a stalwart of the Emmerdale Farm era, and the original theme has an air of melancholy about it.

Let's hope so. Incidentally they used a special piece of music called "Theme For a Dangerous Lady" in Lorraine Chase's last episode. It had elements of the Emmerdale tune in it although it didn't actually close the show, finishing just before the credits.

Here is the end of Steph's last episode: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7em2P...el_video_title

Hollyoaks has a sad theme, its brilliant.. A bit cheesy but it really adds to the emotion.

Emmerdale has used sad music over the credits a few times, During the 1972-1989 era, the normal theme music would occasionally be dropped for the piano version.

I've never heard it myself but there was also a special piano/strings version of the music between 1992-1993 when the piano theme was used.

Hopefully a special reworked version will be used, or Silent credits..

I hope they end with a funeral scene, or someone at Alan's graveside, speaking to him, like they did with Gennie. Then they could just go to silent titles, or a slow version of the theme tune. I would have liked to have seen some sort of tribute documentary to him given that he was a stalwart of Emmerdale for thirty years and had an established t.v career before that I think, but maybe his family didn't want one.

Yeah i agree, maybe a shot of the grave stone with credits to the left or right kind of like Corrie and the blackpool special a few weeks ago.

No, This is a different theme... It was used a few times between 1992-1993 when the piano theme was first introduced, before the 1972 theme returned to the closing credits.

In 1992, the upbeat piano theme was launched, it was even used on the closing credits.. From the plane crash episodes the closing credit music was switched back to the 1972-1992 music.

The music I am referring to is heard towards the end of this clip

I looked up that episode, what you hear at the end of that clip is all that there is to that music. The normal theme starts just as that music ends.

They wouldnt even think of it, but for the character of Alan, and his love of biking, and back to his era, The Byrds, and their track Easy Rider would have been just beautiful and perfect for the end credits.
