Hi
I've had a request from a friend who is overseas to record some TV programs and send them to him.
I am going to record them using a Sony HD recorder, then copy them to a DVD.
This is now my problem, how do I copy the DVD onto my laptop so I may copy the TV program to a SD card?
Any help or advise for a non to computer literate silver surfer will be gratefully received.

Paul

Your question is "How do I rip a DVD?"

It's a shame the Sony recorder won't allow you to copy recording directly from the internal disk.

This may help
http://www.ehow.com/how_4926876_copy-dvd-sd-card.html

This software will help you convert to a suitable format (MP4 is AFAIK often advised for your purposes)
http://www.freemake.com/free_video_converter/

Just be careful when installing and read the options carefully to avoid unwanted extra programs/toolbars
