Completely agree. It was terrific. A genuinely special moment.

Scott Maslan & Natalie Lowe's Jive has to be up there with the best. His Jive is by far and away the best that a male celeb has done with the dance in my opinion....

I am surprised that so many people mention Mark Ramprakash after so many years - because I thought Marks's and Karen's Argentine Tango would have been forgotten by now. I can only echo what many others have said. For me, it was the most magical and electrifying performance I have ever seen on this show. The pure intensity of this dance will forever stand out for me - and of course seeing Mark coming out of his shell. As Craig said - a-ma-zing.

Similarly, Louis Smith. I didn't watch Strictly that year but have since watched Louis and Flavia on Youtube many times. Just incredible how a young man who has never danced before can become such an amazing dancer in a matter of weeks.

Other memorable dances for me were Kara's and Artem's rumba and, yes, Tom Chambers and Camilla's showdance.

And bacofoil, of course.

By the way, is that bacofoil thread still around, because it was probably the most hilarious thing I have ever read on the internet.

Poor Lisa, the indignity of it all when he tried to lift and swing her and that evil grin at the end.

Has Brendan ever been questioned about it and what was his excuse, probably came up with it after one too many

And what are Craig, Arlene and Len's excuses for giving it a standing ovation .

Thanks everyone for posting the links to some of your favourite dances; I've been having a lovely time watching them all. It's made me quite nostalgic for the old-style show, where the couples just came out and danced - no faffing about with props, no comedy VTs etc. And no standing ovations, not even for the most fantastic dances, whereas these days they are ten a penny.

I think my favourite moment was Mark and Karen's salsa. Not only was is a great, fun dance, but we also had the drama of them getting tangled up in the microphone lead and then the re-start. And Bruce handled it really well; it made me feel rather sad in a way, as I'm pretty sure there's no way he could cope with something like that now.

Mark and Karen's AT. The hair on the back of my neck stood up whilst watching this. I can still picture the judges in the background utterly mesmerised and slack-jawed as well. From a technical point of view it may very well have been surpassed but as has already been said, in terms of lighting, music, mood, passion and chemistry I don't think it's been equalled in any dance or by any subsequent partnership.
Inseriousity.

Agree with Tom and Camilla's showdance. Think it helps that all the others were trying too hard at showing off so it was an extra breath of fresh air.

Chelsee and Pasha. That shrek makeup, wow.

Mark and Iveta MC Hammer and the slo-mo "can't touch this" Think my mouth may have opened a little wondering what the hell was going on (in a good way I loved it lmao!).

Tom and Camilla Showdance - first series I was watching, so double impact.

Then:

Kara and Artem American Smooth, Paso, Tango

Harry and Aliona - Quickstep, AT, Tango

Chelsee and Pasha - Quickstep

Holly and Artem - VW, Paso

Natalie and Artem - Rumba

Pro: AT demos by Flavia and Vincent - specially the tango waltz.

I still struggle to believe that Brendan choreographed that mess. Jeez if he gets near the final this year for goodness sake get some help in for him. Mind you I can't see Sophie standing for that pile of tut. She can be self conscious enough as it is. You would need the hide of a rhinoceros to withstand dancing to that.

it was just phenomenally bad - i wasnt on DS so didnt know how many people were horrified. Do you think the judges were shocked and thought it was BRILLIANT but soon realised it was utter CRAP.

Rachel & Vincent's Rhumba. No other dance even comes close in my opinion. Gutted that BBC changed the rules twice to help 'their' man to win

Omg I have so many
1-partnerships : in no particular order,
Alesha & Matt
Kartem
Chelsee & pash
Now Abbey & Aljaz.

2-dances

All Vincent & flavia pro demos
All of these 4 partnerships dances ( kartem, chels & pash , Abbey & Aljaz, Alesha & Matt ) .
Karen/mark AT (still get goosebumps whenever I watch it ), their samba, their tango ( which is very underrated imo ) .
Matt/Flav salsa, showdance
Louis/Flav Charleston, showdance, salsa & tango (probably one of my favorites tango on this show )
Matt & Aliona salsa, chacha, Charleston, tango
Harry & Aliona AT
Brendan & Sophie Charleston.
Natalie/scott tango & jive.
Natalie/Ricky QS ( 1 of the best in this show ), their waltz and AT

I'm sure, I will think of more later

Maybe for the wrong reasons.

-Kristina & John last dance. I still get a bit emotional when I watch this
Kristina & John paso : strictly gold
Muppetdance
Bacofoil
Jason & Kristina jive
Widdy " dances "

Btw, great thread OP.

Except they didn't - I don't believe that the judges fixed it for Lisa and Rachel to go into the final regardless of what the voting public wanted but they did a damn good job of creating that impression. It was so obvious they wanted Lisa to win. The element of voting public verses the judges element blighted series six - with on occcasion neither side covering themselves with glory. Rachel probably deserved to win but at the end of day does it really matter - at least she made the final and you got to see all her dances speaking- as a disapointed Eriaustin we didn't get that privilege.

It is also fair to say that both your camp and mine got the last laugh on the tour - Rachel totally dominated the tour for that year (decimating Tom in the process) and Austin got to edge victory overall over Ramps the year later.

'Twas hubris that did that - don't worry I think he's a bit humbler and more experienced now and wouldn't do it again.

LOL that showdance...

I know DVO is very unpopular on here (she wasn't my favourite either) but I think she and James actually managed to achieve the showdance that Lisa and Brendan aimed for (and failed at miserably)
