Ee: 2014
Am I the only one who's getting excited about eastenders next year? I really like that the Beale family are all together again and that Denise is part of it, and that we are getting the new carter family in the vic, I'm also excited to see bianca have a proper family again. Kinda seems like DTC is taking it back to its roots and I think it will be good to see a good few strong families.

I'm also really looking forward to seeing what happens
![]() Hopefully Danny, Sadie and Jake will all get sorted as well - they need proper storylines! |

Denise was one of my most disliked characters, but the last few months I love her, the Carters moving in to the Vic could be interesting as long as Phil still owns it, and I hope more Mitchells grittiness.

I agree that 2014 could be a turning point for the show. I’ve liked all the recent announcements in terms of casting and exits (bar Janine but that was Charlie’s choice). I also like how DTC is keeping his cards close to his chest and not blurting out loads of spoilers. I genuinely think there’s a buzz starting to form again and the recent cast interviews (for example Sam Womack at the recent Inside Soap Awards) seem to imply that there are big things coming up. It’s also interesting to see the cast acknowledging that the show has taken a dip and needs a kick up the backside. DTC is famed for writing good storylines which is why I think he’ll do well for the show. The cast are actually pretty decent, and Newman to her credit has build up the Beales, brought back Ronnie and David as well as established some nice friendships between characters. What the show needs is some gripping, groundbreaking plots – something DTC excels in. They need to address a few characters which appear to be a little lost – most noticeably Danny, Sadie and Jake, but at least with these three it’s pretty much a clear slate which can be built upon. I’m sure Sharon won’t be ignored despite what people think on here. Building up the Carters I think is a good move and putting someone fresh into the Vic will also stir up interest right in the heart of the show. What’s interesting is that by Oct / Nov we usually have some idea of what the big Christmas storyline will be – this year we’re still in the dark and I suspect DTC will have something big up his sleeves to really show the critics that he means business. |

As much as i want to be, the news and castings have left me a bit unsure, axing a lot is good but replacing them with Shirleys family that have been made up, bringing back Sonia, possibly bringing back Peggy, bringing in several more kids and casting Danny Dyer doesn't sound great.
