Unfortunately, if someone was looking at the cast, they'd think canada only had three big cities LOL from what i've seen, ordinary average jjoe canadians arent on the show, wannabee models and business entrepeneurs (sp?) are.

I only hope that we have all strangers in the house. Last season our BB game was polluted by the injection of an american master-liar named Dan who won his first season and almost won the other.

I'm scared that producers will decide to put an american into the house to stir things up.

The Canada version is closely linked with the US version, the season 1 Canada cast has integrated with past US housemates to where it's basically one big family now, between the US/Can.

we are a FOREIGN country and the usa have no rights to show or view the BBCAN feeds. However, there are back ways and proxies that make it possible. if you are from uk and are reading some of the usa based forums, you may be falsely led to believe that Canada follows usa format and its connected.

Since we get cbs in canada, many of hte USA players are commonly known here and are welcome to be guest hosts etc. its not one big happy family in that its different production companies, different rules, different laws, DIFFERENT country.

if you watched our season many of you may have noticed an almost complete lack of direct arguments and confrontation/ there was an almost complete absence of what most usa fans called 'strategic talks'. its a different game here. we are different people with a different format, rules to be followed and NONE Of our players were given inside info from a buddy in diary room etc.

many of us loved the tasks and twists.

many viewers, watching illegally, were disappointed canada wasnt a usa clone game.

It only follows a similar format, has the same casting director... had USA housemates promoting it, had a USA housemate enter the house. Most of the housemates are fans of the US players, and... yes, they have integrated with the US players.. all one has to do is take a look at twitter and what's been going on, the US/CAN players have been hanging out a lot, and have went to Vegas, have done charities, frequently talk to each other through social media, in some instances hooked up and/or are friends, appear on Peter/Alec's show, Jillian was in a US promo, etc etc, etc.

i find it so strange that there seems to be a need to tie bbcanada to the usa version. yes robin kass was hired to cast, so what? Hollywood north vancouver and Toronto ontario are very connected to california thru business and often use companies from usa.

Housemates of Big Brother do consider it a "family" as it's an experience unlike any other that they've been through and share together. That's why you will see comments when people get out of the house like "welcome to the Big Brother family", etc.

It's no different than Survivor or something where a group of people share the same experiences together, it brings them together and creates that common bond that links them, since the CAN/US versions are so similar there is a closer link there as they've been through a closer experience as would be similar to UK/AUS but it's all a big family really.

If your post wasn't intending to be anti- US then fair enough, i'll take your word for it but that's the way it comes across when you say that an American polluted it, and that you hope specifically an American doesn't enter, completely generalizing all Americans but you wlll be ok with any random person from the UK? Just not an American.

Jillian was one of the most ruthless liars out there and there was plenty of backstabbing and game strategy talk just like the US version, so... i'm not quite sure where you get that... unless you didn't check out the feeds. The feeds were filled with it.


Most of the Canada players either were big fans of the USA version or had at least seen a few seasons here and there, i think it was only Danielle and maybe one other who hadn't really seen it. [and it was Alec not Peter who was familiar with the UK version, and also Talla knows some stuff about it also]

There was talk about the US season on the feeds, there was a re occurring joke referencing Season 2 US that Alec once again stated upon his exit, etc.

And we see in the profiles of these new housemates a number of them give their favorites as US players, mainly Chilltown/Rachel.

You can trivialize that they talk on twitter, that they went to Vegas, that they hang out, that they appear for charities together, etc, etc as somehow not meaning anything if you choose to, i suppose. But i will agree to disagree on that point as i view it differently.

Profile views was something like 15 points, the popup went away too quick and i couldn't tell as i was paying attention to something else. Can't confirm how much but it wasn't all of the profiles, around half.

I'm in a bit of a panic, I've been using Hola to browse the BB Canada site and play the game and it's all been going great up until today. Now the site isn't loading through Hola but is fine when loading without is everyone else the same?

I don't mind paying for a VPN was just hoping Hola would work.

That's why i pay for a VPN, never have any of these issues or worries. I don't get how if people enjoy Big Brother so much why they wouldn't cough up a few bucks to enjoy the live feed worry free.

There was heavy traffic loads on the website when i was browsing where the media didn't load right away properly, so maybe that has something to do with conflicting with Hola. Not sure.

I would recommend just paying for the VPN, 7 dollars a month or whatever is way worth it. Since the feeds are free, don't even have to pay the extra cost like with the US feeds.

I usually do use / buy a vpn but thought I would try Hola and the viewer when it gets released this time since I probably wouldn't be watching the full thing without a flashback option on the feed.

But I can't be bothered with the messing around so I've paid for one - PureVPN, first time using this one so fingers crossed it's not rubbish Peace of mind that I'll be able to watch at least some of it!

THe Proxies for Slice have been variable today. I've found that i needed to reboot my Hola a number of times to make sure I could watch BBUK video. if your free hola doesnt work, close it down and pick a new Canada link.

Sorry bbcrzy - I tend to disagree with your opinion. BBUSA/Can have the same casting director, same format and cross promoed but moreso on the Canadian side where Shaw shows both shows - BBUSA on main Global stations and BBCAN on specialty channel Slice - in UK it would be like putting BBUSA on C4 and BBUK on E4! (That being said Shaw has sent BBCAN players to BBUSA functions and casts have interacted with each other, Jillian was part of the media mock BBUSA game last year and interviewed the US cast)

Re - Commonwealth ties.. my impression is its much more important to us Canadians when I went to see BBUK a couple years back, I was continually called a Yankee and when I said Canadian id often get a shrug and yah ok same thing. Were more like Americans to them than Commonwealth cousins . Even Emma WIllis asked if I was American on BBOTS - lol I think its because we generally sound the same (even though we know the difference) and there's 10 times more Americans than us Canadians so seems like the more obvious answer (much like people confusing Kiwis for Aussies).

I don't doubt your experience. The average Brit knows Canada is part of the commonwealth, obviously, but beyond that there is a bit of a gulf. I must admit I was a little surprised last year watching BB Canada, I thought Canadians had completely assimilated US culture and attitudes but the HG's were a bit of a mix.

Saying that, I completely blame Canadians for the gulf and loose ties to the UK.

Oh for sure and my statement was a sum of experiences .. I had full fledged arguments about the differences with some insisting I was still American to people who were able to identify me as Canadian. This will sound silly on my part, but was amazed with the diversity and range of people..I didn't know what I would get from one person to the next. It felt very.... American! lol

From the Canadian side... it is a young country still with different waves of immigration over time. If a family has been here id say 3 or less generations, they would tend to not think of or pay much attention to commonwealth ties, but families that have been here for more generations than that (1960's and earlier) would think of UK much more prominently as it is very likely a central part of their heritage. Even to this day there are examples of the colonialism - the ROYAL Canadian Mounted Police (the Mounties), the ROYAL Canadian Air Force. As a child in the 80's and earlier 90's we were still singing God Save the Queen in schools along with our National Anthem.

interesting you'd describe canada as a young country when its basically the same age as usa. but lets not get into biases and politics.

canada is huge and has just as many cultures and idiosyncracies as any large country. due to location, some areas are very americanized...toronto for instance. many of us here have trouble discerning toronto accent with american accent, theya re very similar in that area.

when i've gone to uk and europe i've seen so many americans pretending to be canadian, complete with canada flag pins and tshirts, that most countries now seem to assume that anyone who SAYS they are canadain may not actually be.

as for only old folks being interested in the queen and commonwealth, that isnt exactly true in many areas of canada, for many canadians its just a part of canadiana. the 'royal' part of the names are being dropped for instance. there is even a move to change the mountie's red serge.

as for bbcanada, all i'm hoping for is a house full of strangers from all across canada. unfortunately, we already know that aint happening....its mostly cast from only 2 of 12 provinces/ territories!!!

a houseful of wannabees and drama creating characters will be good . i only hope we dont end up with too much ridiculous fake stuff this year. everytime alec and peter did the ShIELD, i'd roll my eyes.
