I am thinking of changing from pay and go to a pay monthly sim, on o2.

I think on o2 pay and go tariffs that data is changed at £1 a day, if all of the allowance is used, before you next have to topup.

Are the o2 pay monthly tariffs the same? Or does the speed get capped, without charging you anymore for data?

I won't need unlimited data.

thanks in advance.

I changed from o2 payg to an Ovivo sim, I'm a very light user so the 150 mins, 250 texts and 500MB data is perfect for me.
Cost is one off payment of £15, no monthly top up required.
Should get my fourth top up in about a week, been fine so far.

Edit: Just seen it now costs £20 one off fee, £15 of which is credit on your account.

Try Giff Gaff instead. I think £10 per month gts you 1gb internet and 500 mins call time (was 250mins prior to promotion). They use O2 as a virtual network (lowest priority) however in my experience the service is comparable and you won't need to unlock your 02 phone.

I know Virgin Mobile isn't the most popular company amongst many forums, but i've been with them for over a year and had no issues at all.

You can get their VIP Tariff which is basically unlimited everything for £15 a month for a 30 day rolling sim. You'll also most likely be able to haggle that down to £10 a month after a few months as well, which is what i've done.

I know you said you don't need unlimited data, which is fair enough, but to get unlimited minutes and texts (and free calls to virgin mobile customers as well) for potentially a tenner a month is a pretty good deal IMO

I'm with Vodafone on a sim only & pay £16 a month for 1,200 mins unlimited texts so I'm happy with that as I use a lot of mins & for £13 they do 900 mins not sure how many texts you get for £13 though, Giff Gaff etc these company's piggy back the main networks I stick to the main networks Virgin Mobile use EE - Orange / T-Mobile.

Do you need to be a Virgin TV customer to get that deal? If not then this is possibly the best deal available on a roller
