The signup to entertainment option is well hidden. Only seems to appear and show pricing when you try to watch something.

There is an option in "My Account" to add an entertainment voucher, lets hope they're gonna give us all a freebie 'cos i'm not sure I'm prepared to pay a fiver a month for it.

Glee is also not available on Sky 1...

I think this is pretty poor as there is no real mention that certain shows are not available on NowTV, if you had paid £4.99 to watch some of those shows you would be annoyed if you foundyou couldnt!!!

Press Release

NOW TV offers top entertainment channels on a monthly pay-as-you-go basis

Internet TV takes another major step forward today as some of the UK's most popular entertainment channels join NOW TV as part of a brand new, pay-as-you-go service.

The new NOW TV Entertainment Month Pass offers a simple, instant and contract-free way to access ten top subscription TV channels: Sky 1, Sky Atlantic, Sky Living, Sky Arts 1, Discovery, MTV, Comedy Central, GOLD, Disney and FOX. It allows customers to stream shows live and on demand on a pay-as-you-go basis - and all at an introductory price of just £4.99 a month.

Internet TV usage is growing rapidly with millions of homes already using the web to watch their favourite shows and channels. The NOW TV Entertainment Pass means that more of the best TV can be enjoyed by anyone with an internet-connected device.

Unlike some other streaming services, the NOW TV Entertainment Month Pass offers premiere episodes of the very latest series, including brand new drama and comedy from home and abroad. Some of the highlights in November alone include Karl Pilkington: The Moaning of Life (Sky 1), Dracula (Sky Living), The Tunnel (Sky Atlantic), A Young Doctor's Notebook & Other Stories (Sky Arts 1), Hello Ladies (Sky Atlantic), Yonderland (Sky 1), Geordie Shore (MTV) and American Horror Story (FOX).

And with the premieres of new series of Game of Thrones, The Following and Mad Men coming up on Sky Atlantic, NOW TV will be the only place to see all the new episodes on a month-to-month, pay-as-you-go basis. In addition to current shows, the NOW TV Entertainment Month Pass will offer entire box sets of hit shows. Highlights include every episode of all five seasons of The Wire (Sky Atlantic) and seasons one to three of An Idiot Abroad (Sky 1) and Mad Dogs (Sky 1).

Yes all of this in SD not HD and only connected to Ps3 macs and PCs. The quality of picture through Ps3 is not very good at all, im still amazed that they didnt have HD, but i guess thats down to the Roku box being 720p.

Seems like a good idea, but following that thread it seems Sky 1 is off air for a good percentage of the day!

This is entry level, non contract, pay TV to give refuseniks an economical way to watch Sky.

If they made it as good as a regular DSAT Sky subscription, people would cancel and switch to Now TV.

I'd like to see Sky offer similar packages at such prices via satellite.

If they offered something like the basic free channels, the few add on entertainment channels people are actually interested in and movies to satellite subscribers for £15 or even slightly higher £19.99 a month to those who don't want to pay much higher prices and don't want the full entertainment bundle they'd probably make a killing, And at such prices they'd begin to tempt some back who have or are considering switching to Freesat or Freeview. They also need to drop the price premium for HD.

Why, for example, do you have to subscribe to one of their entertainment packages before you can add movies?. The cheapest current deal is £37.50 a month as a result (although they do currently have an offer of half price for six months).

With their current NowTV pricing it is cheaper to go that route even for SD than to subscribe to their satellite offering when your needs aren't great. That's even more true for potential customers who don't have Sky as their ISP.

Sky satellite subscribers have been willing to pay the prices asked thus far but growth is slow now that the broadcast pay TV market has matured. The new battle ground is online with netflix, lovefilm and youview pay TV options from BT and Talk Talk. Sky need to strike a balance so that they can compete against the new rivals but not have satellite subscribers cancel for Now TV.

This is great, I have a Roku box with the Now TV app installed and whilst I've not been tempted by their movie service, the Entertainment package at £4.99 seems very reasonable - even if it is only for a limited time.

I've signed up for one month's access to try it out and I'm impressed so far. Yes it does have rights restrictions on several shows when watching the channels live but there's still lots of on demand content available to watch. I've just watched the first episode of 'Teen Wolf' on my Roku and I am pretty sure it was HD 720p - it looked too good to be SD.

For anyone else wanting to give it a try though, make sure you go to your Account settings on the Now TV website and uncheck auto-renew. Sky being clever here and disguising this page so it's not too easy to find.

Jumped all over the Entertainment Pack. Just watched Boardwalk S4 E1 on demand using the Now TV box. Even with a few missing channels an absolute bargain for a fiver. Can't quite believe it.

A great price and even if the monthly cost goes up in the future you will have got value for a couple of months. I wonder what the monthly price will be. £10?

I thought they would have solved the PS3 picture quality by now, that was the reason why I stopped my three months for a pound each month trial a while back after one month. i did try again with another offer a couple of months after, but still the same.

I will stick with Netflix.

Says on the small print exclusive deal and something about March 2014. Even £10 is good value but if they keep it £5 more would keep it on. If they start putting prices up people might add it to watch a seasons of The Walking Dead on FOX and then cancel.

Funny that because I have the movie pass and have no issues with PQ streaming at 720p , not as good as Netflix but pretty good on all my sets minimum size 42".

I don't think they are likely to charge more than they charge for movies, perhaps £6.99 or £7.99 at most.

Seems like a good way to combat piracy of a lot if their big shows, particularly the imports.

Without a doubt. They've recognised that one of the main draws of the full Sky TV package is sport and they've cleverly kept the monthly subscription as a much better deal than Now TV.

However, there's a huge untapped market for imported shows of which Sky has first run rights on many. I for one am snapping up the deal!

Low cost services like Spotify appear to have dramatically reduced music piracy - it seems that if you offer a convenient way of getting content at a reasonable price people are happy to pay. Who would have thought?

That would see about right given movies is seen as a premium service.

Perhaps they'll get back to the £15 a month by offering an entertainment + movies package.

It is sadly lacking in my view at the moment.

Many Sky Atlantic shows are missing and the ones that are there, only have current seasons. Who wants to start a show at season two, or in the case of Boardwalk Empire, season four?

And where are shows like Game of Thrones, The Following and The Borgias etc.?

Maybe they intend to add them later? But I so, why launch as service with half cocked content, when we've been waiting so long or it to launch anyway?

I imagine a monthly price somewhere in the region of £10. If you look at the price of packs with similar channels on TalkTalk they are £5 and £10 per month - somehow I don't think Sky will undercut that, but I don't think they will be too much over that cost either.

What would be a huge bonus though, is if they could sort out their offering on YouView to offer live streams, then thoe of us with Retail or branded boxes not on the branded broadband could add the option of those extra Sky channels directly through Sky without having to sign up with TT or BT. Wishful thinking probably.

I guess you can't please everyone. There was over 100 on demand shows when I flicked through last night including Ross Kemp documentaries, Alan Partridge Mid Morning Matters, Boardwalk Season 4. This and 10 channels for a fiver. Even if they up the price to 8 quid it is still excellent value.

If one of your fave shows is missing from on demand buy the boxset if you want it so badly.

The main technical hurdle is that YouView only supports multicast live TV; Now TV uses unicast. That may change over the next few months.

Whether there are any contractual barriers we have no way of knowing.

Boxsets constantly change , Boardwalk Empire S 1,2,3 and GOT S 1,2 are set to expire from Sky On Demand tomorrow. Now TV boxsets mirror Sky On Demand so maybe these werent added as they were set to expire , these shows have been available on Sky On Demand before so I'm sure they'll return. Sky show full series of earlier seasons generally a month or so before the new series airs so its possible The Following S1 will show up before Season 2 airs on Sky Atlantic.
