... this is obviously presuming this will happen at all, but:
with Nicholas and Sam Bailey looking increasingly likely as finalists, they will not be able to pull the 'sing with your mentor' card like the last two years. I would personally pay money to see Sharon screech her way through some 80's power ballad, but it's not going to happen, sadly.
So what do people think will happen/who will be on the wish list ? I would put money on a return of the old 'give-the-mega-star-to-the-chosen-one-and-book-westlife-and-buble-for-the-rest' scheme, although I cannot see them giving Beyonce to Tamera after the comments, plus Nicholas would be the obvious Buble partner, so it's all a bit of a mystery...

I can't see Westlife coming out of "retirement," for a single appearance on the X-Factor, they'll probably wait a few years for the inevitable "reunion," when the solo careers fail miserably

Whoever turns up, I've no doubt the contestants will go go-ey/dewy eyed and vow that they've always been a "huge fan," or be so awe struck that they can't get through their bit of the song.

These "duets," like the tiresome group songs, rarely show us anything new with which to judge the contestants..

If there were to be duets, I'd like to see them test the singers on "harmony," for example..

That said, I'm not averse to a bit of Buble and I'm sure Robbie Williams will turn up, like the proverbial bad penny somewhere along the line.

As for singing with their mentors, I, for one, would be glad for that to fall by the wayside, though I'd agree, after "judging," the singers vocal abilities, albeit in a limited way, it'd be great to see Osbourne and Walsh making tits out of themselves, by proving just how little they actually know about singing..

Rich.

If Kingsland Road got their I would fully expect Gary to get on stage with backcombed hair and dressed entirely in Topman.
Personally I'd give them Bruno Mars or Bastielle and give them something less 'girlie'. (Although TBH, I would take Barlow, just to see him dressed like the rest of Kingsland).

I know they won't get there but they're my faves so I can hold out hope, yes?

I'm jealous! I love Bastille, they're amazing

Celine and Sam could definitely work, Gary could get out his Celine poster and wave it around

Well, instead of screaming from the 3rd row, he could scream from the best seat in the house and then, of course, offer the essential standing ovation..and then try to worm/squirm his way out of his bizarre and inaccurate comments last weekend.

Perhaps we'll have another ghastly moment like we had with Osbourne/Ga-ga after a night out at G.A.Y.?

I'm also jealous. I saw them in the summer and they were incredible live. Faaaaaar too good to perform with Kingsland Road.

With the mini Buble comments if Nicholas gets anyone but him I will be surprised.

I thought of them because I was very very impressed with KRs cover of Pompeii on YT. . They've been seriously done over by Barlow and his reminiscing of early Take That.

It's a shame Nicholas is in Louis category. If he gets to the final I'd have loved to see him duet with Nicole, just for all the faux-flirting.

I just watched it now. It's not that bad.

I don't get why they didn't go do this style from the start because that's what's big right now and I don't think we can blame it all on Barlow because in their first audition they were already doing the cringey dance moves and hip thrusts.

I think they should have got them to regin in the hen party dancing and let them stick to their style of their first audition, give them sort of indie style stuff. They covered Little Mix and Macklemore too and it wasn't bad for being (at the time) YouTube famous.

Connor can play keyboard and rap, Thompson plays guitar and Matt can play uke so why they turned them into another generic boyband I don't know. I like Gary but maybe he's working with what he knows works for boybands but it's sort of stinted what made them stand out in the first place.

Maybe it's they've been dealt a bad hand with themes like disco and eighties or maybe the producers had set RC and KR up to be deadwood until their alpha group Miss Dynamix dropped the baby bombshell and it was a little late to back track and make them anything else but JLS ii and Union J ii. Disco is only going to make them look more boybandy...

Sorry, I kind of went off on one...

Hehe no I don't mind at all. I don't get it at all either. Surely if they're covering the likes of Bastille and Macklemore on YT they must know what they're doing on the show right now is dated and cheesy as hell. It's not as if they're even making their covers modern/different like Bastille do with theirs. I wish they'd have the guts to speak up and say this is what we want to do this week.

It's times like this I question whether or not the producers actually have a clue. 1D are still huge, so they really need to stop trying to recreate that success because whilst they're still around I can't see anyone jumping ship just yet. I mean Union J proved this last year. They should be marketing KR as something "different" that the show hasn't really had before. Show that they can all sing, that they can play instruments, that they're not your typical cheesy boyband but instead they've done the opposite. So so strange.

The themes have massively hindered them, eighties is going to make anyone look cheesy, especially a boyband. I think they probably came up with Marry You, Thompson is a HUGE Bruno fan so it was likely their idea and the producers decided to choreograph it to the death. But Pretty Woman, weird weird choice. Disco is only going to make them more One Direction clones and less KR. They need a artist based theme...or a 'Soft Rock' week or hell, I'd take anything but these cheesy themes (disco/80s).

Rough Copy have said Gary lets them pick theirs but I think the acts are given a list of maybe five, I'd assume they give them something like that and being boybands, they get ballads and girly pop. I think a lot of the time acts don't want to kick off for fear of being edited badly/set up for a fall.

I agree completely about 1D/UJ...They're almost trying to force another boyband out there but instead of saying Kingsland Road could be the 'boyband that's not a boyband' and get X Factor some credibility back...they want ANOTHER generic poppy dancey act, It's like they only have one cookie cutter for boybands. It's driving me crazy seeing people call them crap because they're geniunely not that bad, bit rough around the edges but if they were trained right, they'd have a fair shot at being successful.

I think Gary and Nicole would sing with their acts, as per usual, but Sharon and Louis will recruit one of their musical pals for the job. They can't give their acts the unfair advantage of having a really cool and current duet partner though, so would probably recycle Robbie Williams and Shane Filan!
