Has anyone got one of these? Are they useful and do you think they are worth the money? I was looking at one in Currys and they look good but are they just a gimmick?

I don't have a multi cooker, but they look useful for stuff like stews. Would I buy one? i doubt it but only because it would not suit my lifestyle and the food I eat.

If you are buying kitchen gadgets you got to look at the reasons you are buying them.

Will they make life easier?
Will they save you money?
Well they help you eat healthier?

i ordered one from QVC, a 'cooks essentials' multi cooker which is a pressure cooker/rice cooker/slow cooker combined, with a timer and a delay setting and a keep warm function; unfortunately when it arrived today it was faulty i phoned qvc and they are replacing it and collecting the old one in the next couple of days which i thought was pretty decent of them, i thought i would have to pay for sending it back..
fingers crossed the next one will be ok!!
i think it will suit me and my mum pretty well, she is worried about escalating fuel costs and we do love our stews and soups!!

Well, I've ordered the Murphy Richards one today. We'll see how useful it is.

And how much space they take up on your kitchen work tops or in your cupboards.

Which features do you intend to use? I don't have one, but generally these multi-function cookers are less good than dedicated appliances.

Update:

Well, fellow ds'ers. I've been using my Multicooker for 5 months now and it is brilliant. I cook braised beef, slow cooked stews, bolognaise sauce, curry, soup, mince 'n Tatties, and fry chops etc. It is very useful and must use less electricity/gas than having the cooker on.
