Im not the biggest Gary Barlow fan by any means, however, I actually really like his new single 'Let Me Go'

Where do we think the song will chart?
Will it be a commercial success for him?
What are your thoughts on the single?

Depends on radio play. He will probably get the Michael Buble Radio 2 audience.

I'm sure he'll go top 10 after an X Factor performance too. Can imagine some decent sales on his album too. People love a comeback and the whole Gary Barlow/Take That rise in particular.

He's on the Radio 2 A-List, so airplay is there

His competition that day will be Bastille, JLS and Naughty Boy. Think he will place higher than JLS and Naughty Boy, so #1 will either be him or Bastille. Think Gary could take it considering he's performing on the X Factor.

I like it

Think it will chart quite high, not sure it will get to No.1 but maybe xfactor will help in that regards

It's all very Mumford and Sons isn't it? #3.

I hope the single does well, but I really hope the album does even better, because the preview is unbelievably good, especially Dying Inside, Requiem, Jump, Face to Face and Since I Saw You Last. There isn't a single track that is meh. I'm not too fond of Actress, but the rest is amazing:

#1 - judging by his ticket sales, people are going mad for Mr Dull - it'll be the rabid ex-Take That fans that are now Mums

The album will doubtless get to number 1 as Take That fans will buy 10 copies at a time - one for themselves and nine for friends and family (whether they want it or not).

I have to be honest though - the single is quite catchy. I agree - very Mumford & Sons (at least this time he's borrowing styles from a fairly decent outfit).

But isn't it out the same day as 1D whose pre orders are huge

Will the 1D fans be able to afford 10 copies a time though? Take That fans have loads of money!

For your surprise, I'm neither an ex-Take That fan, neither a mum, I've always been a fan of "Mr Dull".
And if you even bothered to check his album, you'd realize why "mums" are going mad for it.
I don't see anything wrong with having a more mature fanbase - suddenly it's wrong to have a brain and use it -, but Gary's fanbase consists, at least 50%, of people aged 13-30. I guess it's better than having a fanbase formed exclusively of kids.

Wow, you learn every single day something new on this forum. First, I learnt that, just because I'm Gary's fan, I must be a mum and, therefore, either stupid or tasteless; now, I learn I'm loaded. I wish! Gary's album is quite expensive and, at least, for us, non-UK fans, it's kinda hard to buy 10 copies. But I guess you're getting all your bases covered. Surely the album couldn't do well just because it's good?

I can see your point as it's a stereotype but I can see where Sheila is coming from.

A lot of Take That fans are in their 30's and I guess the majority have full time jobs and money of their own to spend where as groups like One Direction heavily rely on their parents bank balances.

It will be really interesting to see how well it will go this time around.

I listened to the preview and I don't like it. All songs sound very much the same and the only ones that attracted me were Since I Saw You Last, More Than Life and Song I'll Never Write.

Obviously, I won't judge it before I hear it in full, but I really think I won't enjoy it. Everything is just... well... kinda boring to me. But hey, that is only my opinion.

I can understand the difference, but it's absurd claiming that one person is going to buy 10 albums. Most of us have gone for the limited edition, which costs over 30 euros. I don't see anyone paying not even 200 euros just to get Gary in the charts. Let's not forget that these people have also spent quite a lot of money on concert tickets. If he does well in the chart, it certainly won't be because crazy fans bought a ridiculous amount of cd-s.

You're entitled to your opinion, of course, but I don't think it's fair to say the songs sound the same. Small Town Girls, Let Me Go, Face to Face, Actress are all so different and set the tone apart from the slow and mid-tempos. The album needs to be cohesive, that's why he couldn't have gone too eclectic. For me, Dying Inside, Jump, Requiem, 6th Avenue are some little gems and the man practically wears his heart on his sleeve, touching the losses of his father and daughter. The lyrics are the best so far and, for me, this album is better than anything he put out alone or with Take That so far, better than anything any member of TT has put out so far.

It somehow reminds me of George Harrison, but I'm not sure which song.

Again, it is my opinion, and to my ears, it does sound the same - nothing unfair about what I have said. I understand that album has to be cohesive but album can sound samey overall. As I said, it does sound like that to my ears.

Amanda - if you want to know how I came to that conclusion - it was through being a fan of Take That and going on the TT forum. Whenever a new album came out - to a man (or woman) nearly everyone said they'd buy albums not just for themselves but for family and friends. There were one or two of us who thought it was a ridiculous waste of money - but I do know TT fans who did just that! They even did it for their singles - they were horrified when their tactic wasn't able to lift the godawful 'I'd Wait For Life' to higher than number 17 in the chart!

Yes I know - that is just those people on the TT forum / official site (which incidentally is possibly the worst fan-site in musical history - giving nothing to its fans other than advertisements for new merchandise and more ways to get money out of the fans) but a lot of fans do do it. I went to a 10CC concert once in Southport and made friends with a TT fan who had bought tickets for EVERY ONE of their Circus Tour GB dates! This must have run into thousands - and there are others just like her. Take That fans have massive amounts of money because what once were teeny-bopper, fawning little girlies are now yummy-mummies with lots of expendable income. I was one of those people who never got the fascination first time around (I was in my 20's then - so way to old to be a boy-band fan) I only caught onto them from the Beautiful World era. As an adult not swayed by my girlhood emotions - I was obviously more careful with my money!

But if the musical maestro (and best songwriter from the UK other than Lennon & McCartney) Jeff Lynne ever did a tour - I may be a little looser with my purse strings.

Only 32 copies behind that awful Bastille cover. Come on Barlow fans.

Nobody is buying Gary Barlow's album more than once. In fact in the scenario above, 1Ds fans are far more likely to multi-buy their album than Barlow's to buy his. Do you believe Gary's fans care whether his albums or singles go to number one?

Without multiple iTunes accounts or going to nine different shops that stock it, buying 10 copies is pointless because only 1 or 2 count in one sale
