http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2013/10/30/playstation-4-the-ultimate-faq/

Copying and pasting far too long but looks like a really good FAQ detailing lots and lots of features.

very detailed and very informative, disappointed no way to play ps3 content would be good to even get minis etc. or psn titles but it is a brand new system, also disappointing that it doesn't play mp3

i wish Microsoft would do something like this for the Xbox one.

This seems to be kicking up a bit of a fuss on other forums.

Apparently you can't play mp3s or background music as you need a music unlimited sub, and there is also no DLNA. I don't think its such a big deal personally.

Yeah the biggest downside after years of waiting is the inability to play music from anything other than music unlimited. No cd or mp3 support.

Also they mention only the 9.5mm hdd.

Also importing your fb pic might throw up some uninteresting profile pics as surely open to abuse

Good read, they missed a joke here me thinks:

What color variations will you offer at launch?
The model color at launch is “Jet Black.”

Not really as FB profiles are monitored? I hope the sony music unlimited can be played over everything, i have a membership and enjoy it, though not sure if i would pay full price for it so might not get it once it expires.

There's some things I would like to know:

1) Will 'Home' be on the PS4? I don't use it myself personally but when I last looked at it on PS3 around April, it was still a beta after all these years!

2) How does your photo get on the PS4 as an avatar? In videos you always see that bint Sarah Greene with a photo of herself. Is it your Facebook profile photo or something?

3) Does the gamer bundle with the 2 pads, Killzone and camera include the clip for the camera? I saw a unboxing of the camera on IGN that came with a clip to sit it ontop of the TV but insure if it'll be included with the mega bundle.

4) Can PS3/PS4 players see what their friends are playing on the different console? E.G if I'm playing FIFA on PS4 and my friend is playing on the PS4, will they see I'm playing FIFA but on a different console so they don't send an invite?

At first viewing, things i don't like:

Only 5400RPM SATA2 drives under 9.5mm are officially supported.
No DLNA Support
£59.99 (RRP) for games
No remote play over 3G
No MP3 support
Also says you can have up to 2000 friends....**** that. Imagine each popping in turns on to party chat asking to join them in a different game.

Up to 8 in party chat. Is that good or bad? Sounds Ok to me

That'll be a nightmare if you have people constantly signing in & out every 2 seconds!

On the plus side it does say there is more control than ever before. So maybe only alerts for your closest friends....not sure

The way i read it, when it came to the HDD Drives was that it had to be no thicker than 9.5mm and at least 160GB.

I don't see why i 7200RPM drive wouldn't work.

If the fan isn't designed to cool 7200RPM drives it could cause problems like it can in the PS3.

Remote play for 3g prob wouldn't work well. RRP for games is expensive but suppose retail will be cheaper. MP3 disappointing but no big loss. HDD thing again no real probs there although 7200pm would have been nice.

Would like confirmation about whether all launch titles are remote play compatible though.

Remote Play would be 'remotely playable' over 3G.

It is bad enough trying to play MP over 3G let alone streaming a video and sending commands back and forth with the least lag possible!

£59.99 is first party only, pretty sure first party right now is £54.99 and they never sell for that much.

Third party are free to do what they want.

Even then, Knack is actually £49.99.

Does PS4 have an AirPlay feature that you can stream video, music, photos etc off your mobile to your TV ala Apple TV?

I don't think any first party has been £54.99 on the PS3? Last of us was only £40 on the store pre order. You only need look at the prices ATM to see they are more expensive than PS3 launch.

The point of 3G was it only seems to work over local WiFi, So what if I'm at a mates house with fibre? It sounds as if that also won't work as it's only local.

The Last of Us is £54.99.

And you'd use his wi-fi.

No audio CDs is pretty crap, I actually ripped CDs quite regularly to my PS3 for a first listen if I couldn't be bothered getting out of bed to put them on my PC!

No DNLA, no MP3 and no music CD support is pretty bad. I currently run all my music via my PS3 either using DNLA from my NAS or by CD. That is a really backwards step.

Bad move Sony.

This, however, is very cool:

Can PS4 and PS3 users play together online, cross-platform?
The functionality is technically possible and some developers may choose to support it for their titles.

They came up with DLNA too, which is odd!

But really, CDs - this is a next-gen system!

I use MP3 quite a lot for the 360, quite surprised this feature isn't allowed and the paywall behind the music feature is just.. wow. Imagine if MS said in order to enjoy background music in games we can only stream content from Xbox music which requires a hefty subscription fee. I hope this doesn't give them any funny ideas.
