Where Can I Buy Mussels (but not in vaccum packs with sauce)?

Mussels in a cider sauce used to be my signature dish a few years back but it seems that now it's impossible to buy frozen/fresh mussels that aren't vaccum packed and pre-doused in white wine sauce.

Other than a Fishmonger does anyone know where I could buy some to cook tomorrow for dinner!?

Waitrose. Not sure if Morrisons fish counter is as good as they pretend but they may also do 'em. Aren't they only in season for some of the year which might explain their absence?

Why other than a fishmonger? It would be your best bet over a standard supermarket.

You might find fresh in a decent supermarket (not just the name but location). I see Waitrose has them listed (but again depends which stores stock them).

A Chinese supermarket should definintely have frozen, possibly also fresh depending on the store.
Also a cash&carry/makro/costco will probably have frozen.

Around here several supermarkets and a terrific fishmonger in the city centre.

I buy frozen cooked muscles from FarmFoods. Also larger Tesco's sell them

Most larger supermarket fish counters have them, in my experience. I've never struggled to find them when they're in season (September to April, I think?) Or if you have a market near you, a fishmonger in there probably would.

For the first time I noticed and
bought some frozen Mussels in a bag a few nights ago from Morrison's
[£3 for the bag ]
I had a couple and they tasted very nice

The fresh mussels I bought from there twice
about 6 months ago ~from the fishmonger's
were absolutely delicious cooked in their shells
-with garlic- fresh herbs and a slosh of Dino Pino wine

I'm guessing the OP probably doesn't actually have a fishmonger - they are pretty rare beasts these days - I can't think of one in Nottingham other than the stalls in the Victoria market.
Supermarkets can be pretty hit 'n miss with their fresh fish counter, but Morrisons would be my goto around here though I have seen them in Tesco and Sainsburys too.

Morrisons definitely sell them fresh in a net. Although I haven't seen them like that very often.

I realise that. I live in a coastal town and I only know of a couple in town but the OP's profile says that they live in London.
Surely there are plenty of fishmongers around. They could even nip down to Billingsgate.

Thats where we get them. but I'm sure you have to buy 5KG so only worth it if we have people round.

All the big supermarkets round here sell mussels, and we're about as inland as you can be!

There's also a row of fishmongers near the guildhall as well, no good for the OP I know.

How else does everyone cook theirs? I cook mine in white wine, garlic and parsley and then I chuck cream in at the end, and use a French stick to mop up the juice. Mmmmm feeling inspired for tea!
