Why is my iPhone Personal Hotspot so flakey
I make a lot of use of tethered phones with both an iPhone 5S and an HTC One. The HTC is rock solid and always works. With the iPhone, more often than not it doesn't even broadcast an SSID and I have to reboot the phone to see it. Even then it often just says something like "cannot join the network" but some time later it will start working. I had exactly the same problem with an iPhone 5 for the last year as well. Once it's working it works well.
Any thoughts ? |

What network? What's the signal like? What speeds do you get on both phones using a speedtest app?
I'm on Three and tethered a 4,4s and now my 5, all have worked brilliantly with very good speeds |

Any thoughts ? However I generally tether my tablet to my phone using bluetooth, as it is much more power efficient (on both the phone and the tablet) then WiFi. It's pretty much permanently tethered when I'm out of house. |

I have seen that a couple of times, but I noticed it was fine after I simplified the name of the phone/SSID.
