What good gigs have you been to lately?

Megadeth- birmingham. where awsome

Who did and didn't live up to your expectations?

none i can think of lately. but metallica at download sucked a bit coz they played mostly new stuff and didnt sound good at all.

Best gig ever?

NOFX - war on errorism tour- Brixton carling academy.

Who would you like to see but never have?

definatly Red Hot Chili Peppers, im not a big fan but i think there a good live band.

The best Live Band has to have been green day who were F**K*** Awesome at brixton

Best Live show was rammstein at the brixton Ac, they put on a show and a half, fire, pyros, boiling the keyboard player live on stage, a massive set, they went the whole hog for the show.

the most lame show would have been korn at London Arena couple of years ago to been honest it could have been a cd playing, they came on sung and left they was no interaction between them and the crowed and the choice of venue was to big I still not sure if it was them on stage.

I think bands a ripping off fans when they play large venues unless your near the front your cant see much thats why I hate Alexandra palace and London Arena, The best places in london are Brixton Ac and Hammersith Ap.

I'm sure many people find it more annoying if people make a thread like this and don't give their opinions on the subject.

I don't know what my favourite gig has been, but some memorable ones have been The Subways at the Exeter Cavern on the 6th November last year, Manic Street Preachers at MOVE in 2003, and Bur in Manchester in 2003.

Well, where would we be if we asked questions but never gave opinions? If someone asks a question, I like to know what their opinion is as well

Anyway... marvellous bands that I've seen in the last couple of years include Opeth, Entombed, Pig Destroyer, Dillinger Escape Plan (twice!), Cult of Luna, Megadeth, Motorhead and Ephel Duath. All were great

As for the best? I'm going for Ephel Duath, purely on the grounds that they converted me on the spot from someone who'd never heard them to a complete fan-girl!

Hopefully I'll have good reports on Isis, Mastodon & REM once I've seen them

REM are headlining the Isle of Wight Festival this year, on the Sunday.

Isle of Wight's a bit far for me, lol! Can't wait to see them in Birmingham though Although I'm more excited about Mastodon to be honest, I was gutted when they cancelled their tour last year (I had tickets for Nottingham) to support Slayer/Slipknot. Especially being as they're better than both of 'em at the moment, IMHO....

Managed to get over from Surrey just for the Sunday last year - left at 8am, drove to Portsmouth, got the ferry, got the last ferry back after Bowie's brilliant set, and made it into work for 8.30am on the Monday! Am waiting to see the rest of the lineup before booking tickets, but it's well worth it if you can get there and you like the look of the line up. Snow Patrol were also excellent last year and it was a great day out.

Addendum to above: have just seen on the IOW festival website that Snow Patrol and Embrace are also now confirmed for the Sunday night.

Good gigs in the last year or so:

Tim O'Brien was brilliant, and I'm seeing him again this year. Have seen Kevin Montgomery 3 times in the past year and he's fantastic live. Probably the best gig of last year that I went to was The Mavericks, I really hope they tour here again soon.

Others that have been good - Josh Groban, Norah Jones, Beth Neilsen Chapman (saw her 3 times last year) Ray LaMontagne and Amos Lee.

I went to a lot of of gigs last year other than those I've mentioned and the only gig that was a bit of a disappointment was Nanci Griffith at the Royal Albert Hall. I don't think she's very well suited to large venues like that and there was no atmosphere, she was quite bland.
