After getting really excited for the PS4 release and getting a launch day release i am started to get major doubts, lack of games im interested in, no resume function from day 1, large day 1 download all points to a rush release.

Whats everyone's opinion?

The resume function will be nice to have when we get it, it's a handy little feature on Vita, but as it's never been on a home console before I'll certainly not miss it in the meantime.

The "large" day 1 update is only 307MB so shouldn't take long to sort out. If you're worried about busy servers on launch day then you can download it in advance and install it on your PS4 from memory stick. Even without the day 1 update, the PS4 still works as a games machine, unlike Xbox One.

As for the games - well, only you can answer that one.

ye you make good points i just think after watching the hype for the release i assumed all the functions would be day 1 and i am always pushed for gaming time so the resume function would be awesome for me, would allow me to get in to more than just sport games.

Ye the game line up is not really calling me to be honest, what are you looking forward to most? what games you getting?

I would disagree saying Sony rushed to release. They have been designing the PS4 since 2008, and they announced the release in February, and it was Microsoft, who people suspect wanted to release the Xbox One in 2014, struggled to respond with it's launch (see the many U-turns in policy as well).

If there are no games that interest you, just wait till there are. There will be plenty available in a few months, dont spend the money on something if you're not going to have fun with it right now

I'm really torn, I like the idea of PS4 but there's nothing on it to grab my attention, whereas the Xbox has at least 3/4 exclusives I'm excited to see-I pre-ordered ages ago so I'm probably going to go with it buy it and if I can't justify having it then sell it again before Christmas

Waiting 12months is look like a better idea every day at the moment.

Day One I'll have Killzone, Resogun, Contrast, Flower, Escape Plan, Playroom, Blacklight Retribution, Warframe and DC Universe Online to play without spending any additional money.

Between now and then I'll be looking at the reviews and picking up whatever comes up best. The shortlist so far includes Need For Speed Rivals, Knack, Battlefield 4, COD Ghosts, LEGO Marvel Superheroes or Assassin's Creed IV.

It's a shame DriveClub and Watch_Dogs aren't in the line-up, but if it means we get better games at the end of it, then I'm happy to wait.

Why i feel it may have been rushed is that some of the more innovative features seem to be missing and titles which were meant to be big day 1 sellers have been put back, everything sounded so good at E3 when MS just imploded but since then i think MS have clawed back a bit of ground by basically u turning on everything and Sony does not seem to have pushed on, i was really hoping for some more launch titles.

What games are you getting?

Resogun looks like Defender on steroids and as much as i want to say i will play it i know i wont, dont like the look of contrast or flower.

I have never played Blacklight or warframe but i did like the trailers for them. Are they both day 1 free to play ?

Im still geting mine at launch even though i agree there arent many great games/exclusives which stand out.

Killzone Shadow Fall looks good but i havent played a Killzone game before so i do not really know what to expect or what to compare it too.

I was planning on buying DriveClub and Watch Dogs but will now be geting 3 or possibly 4 of the following:

- Fifa 14
- Killzone: Shadow Fall
- Assassins Creed 4
- Call of Duty: Ghosts
- Battlefield 4
- Knack

I may also decide on buying the camera for the playroom function as i think my 3 year old son may like that.

The main reason im geting it now though is i have a bit more disposable income at the moment, whereas, next year im looking at buying a bigger house etc so financially will not be able to afford it.

I hope the next 4 weeks go quick, so many games out or due out in the next few weeks which i would ususally buy for my 360 that im not geting.

Flower is as much of an experience as it is a game. Everyone should try it.

Blacklight and Warframe are both scheduled as day 1 free to play. War Thunder should also be added by the end of the year.

Ye i last played Killzone back on PS2 not the biggest fan of 1st person shooters to be honest, so dont know how much better it has got (i imagine a hell of a lot)

Knack looks cool but i also think its going to be to easy, just there to show off how pretty PS4 can make a game.

I havent played AC since the 1st one which was ok but a bit slow so again dont know how much it has improved.

If i do get the PS4 fifa will be one game i will pick up but seems kind of pointless getting a PS4 to play FIFA

Thants good, i think a couple of people said that Warframe was missing off the day 1 launch titles for Europe ?

Planetside 2 looks cool but is not due till next year!

^^^ Apparently Knack is not that easy, and is quite hard in parts.

Is it ? I like the look of it but what put me off is the whole family can play tag line, looks a bit kiddie friendly but graphically looks so cool.

Might be something i pick up when it gets a bit cheaper wont be getting it day 1 thats for sure

Every video I've seen recently on IGN, Gamespot etc say that Knack is a difficult game

You need to actually play Knack to know if it's for you because one game that is difficult to one person might be easy for another.

I'm a little disappointed that they've not included DLNA playback.

You also need to realise that Sony still have not announced any games from their 'main' first party studios. Most notably: Naughty Dog, Sony Santa Monica, Media Molecule, Quantic Dream, Sony Bend, Japan Studio (insert TLG joke) and obviously Polyphony Digital.

Whereas Microsoft have already set out their roadmap for the next couple of years. Sony's furthest main Summer/Autumn 2014 game is The Order: 1886.

Naughty Dog normally announce their next game at the VGA's to hopefully we'll see it!

You're right. Sony say there are currently over 180 games in development for PS4, only a fraction of these have been announced so far.

Dont buy one there you go.

Would you even listen to me?

Only you can make up your mind, would you really be influenced by a bunch of strangers on an internet forum?

I understand the original post completely. It seems to me Sony has been winning on hype which was largely based on sticking it to Microsoft (which also meant just doing things the current systems do like allow used games!)

Still, as with every console launch, you`re buying into the potential of a system and the investment will pay you back in entertainment for years to come.
