Bring back Matthew Robinson as exec of EE!
I would say, before John Yorke, Matthew Robinson was and still is one of the best executive producers Eastenders has ever had. He was executive producer during late 1997-1999! During EE's best years when Tiffney died, Steve and Mel were brought in, Biancca had that affair with Dan and Matthew being falsely sent to prison for Saskia's death!
I mean this guy did wonders for EE and left a fabulous foundation for John Yorke to preceed him and carry on with the quality. And now since John Yorke is only temporarily taking over, after he leaves i think the BBC execs should pursue Matthew to come back and take over again. Looking over at IMDB it seems that Mat hasn't got anything planned for this year, so even more of a reason for him to come back. I mean i would rather leave Eastenders in the hands of someone who has done it before and has had experience rather then with someone who has had very little experience in the producers chair of a serial drama (Alas Louise Berridge). Wouldn't you all agree? |

Unfortunately for me I only started watching EE during LBs reign so although I am familiar with the storylines I am not sure of what quality they were (although based on a general consensus I'm sure it was better than LBs era). I have seen the odd episode on UKGold and I must say from what I know of the era it was quite a good one.

Matthew Robinson first started out at Eastenders in 1985 and worked his way up. I sure he works for Eastenders Revealed now.
He was a fantastic producer but all of the Eastenders producers were apart from Louise Berridge who tried too much to focus on the past. |

I agree, I thought those days were the best in recent memory. A very wide range of characters, and some strong women too.

Yep absoloutely he was a fantastic Exec Producer and definitely kick started the Golden Era which John Yorke nicely stepped into. They were both Co Executive Producers at one stage, EastEnders was fab under these two and beat the pants off Corrie and Emmerdale at the time. I would definitely like to see someone as established as himself brought in full time when John Yorke steps back.
Wow, just reading his IMDB page, he's worked on Corrie, Emmerdale, Brookie and Enders. Impressive. |

The bloke’s CV is very impressive (Z Cars, Angels and Doctor Who - Cult TV). |

He did some great EE. I don't know if he specialises in directing or producing, these days.
He certainly has plenty to say for himself! There's quite a big interview with him on the DVD of Dr Who: Resurrection of the Daleks (he was the director of that one), and he isn't short of opinions about things ... at one point during the DVD commentary, Peter Davison almost tells him to shut up ... chuff.x. |

Paul Marquess would be good. I know Bill fans will scream in horror, but he did put a boot up Family Affairs and turn that into a bloody good soap
