Given that she forgot bits of three of the first four routines I don't see how that follows. If anything he was pushing her a bit further than she could go given her nerve problems.

They seemed to have worked through the issues and while not perfect the qs was a big improvement. In fact if you took the rhumba out of the equation they would be doing pretty well.
If their charleston goes well as the vt would suggest they should be fine this weekend.
They'll still have a foxtrot to do which I think would be worth seeing and there's been no paso yet.
If dances fall well for them they might hang around a bit longer than people would think.

However, her dances so far have either been awkward and ungainly from the start, or peppered with so many mistakes that it detracts from their overall quality. Her Quickstep this week was a breakthrough (although in my mind, somewhat overmarked) but I wonder if it's too little too late for Fiona to make any serious headway as a contender.

Do you think she'd be in a stronger position had she not landed Anton? I can't help but feel a slightly sturdier task master, such as Artem or James, would have been a fetter fit to encourage the very best from Fiona. As much as she and Anton seem to enjoy a friendly, enthusiastic partnership, his choreography and teaching methods seem to be at odds with what's best for Fiona, and thus, she's slipping ever further into the dangerous crevice that is "not good enough to be saved on merit, not bad enough to be saved for a laugh".

What do you think?”

No she would be out I'm afraid by now, Anton's fans are keeping her afloat I fear...!

I'm inclined to agree.

She hasn't lived up to what I had hoped but I am voting for her because I enjoy her partnership. It's actually nice to see Anton with someone decent who is at least doing proper routines. It must be a nice feeling for him to have not been in the dance off and reaching the half way point with someone who is capable. I think they deserve to outlast Dave, Patrick and Mark so am hoping they can last till at least the end of the month.

I certainly don't think she deserves to outlast Patrick, and perhaps not Mark either.

A fair comment, but I would suggest that she has improved more than anyone over the past few weeks.

The Rhumba was a car crash but that apart her performances have shown a steady upward curve. The charleston wasn't stellar, but she did almost an entire routine out of hold, didn't forget it and actually looked last week and more particularly this week that she is starting to enjoy the performance.

They should have ballroom next week and have yet to do a foxtrot.

Say what you like about Anton, but his foxtrot is superb. He has had the chance to do about three really good ones over the life of the show.

I'm hoping next week he and Fiona might produce the fourth.

Well none of the others are doing latin - they are all doing a mash up! There are no pure dances any more - just show dances. So does it really matter?

I think Fiona would be middle of the road, regardless of partner. To be honest, I'm not even sure why she'd in SCD. She hasn't worked professionally in showbiz for years and years and even at the height of her career was only a minor actress ,really. I think she was better known for having been married to Simon McCorkindale than for her own acting career.

Sorry, that sounds bitchy and it wasn't meant to be. Fiona comes across as a very nice person who has created a happy and successful life away from the public eye. But that's the point really. She hasn't been in the public eye for many years now so I'm not sure why she was invited to appear on a celebrity programme.

Yes. He can't do a mash-up (as you call it either)
Let me clarify.
He. Can. Only. Do. Ballroom.

Man them's short sentences. Are you some liberal
magistrate in your working life?

I seem to remember him doing a few decent pasos over the life of the show.
If they were to get, say, foxtrot, paso, viennese waltz and were still in in three weeks time a few on this forum would blow all their fuses at once.

Unlikely, but you never know.

Good point. It wouldn't be good to create a stink.

I don't think that was necessarily her fault. He seems to have lots of ill prepared patters over the years. Ifs a bit too much of a coincidence for me.

Agreed, and that would certainly be a risk if the idea was followed through.

Anton is total rubbish at entire discipline, so I answer "Yes" with certainty. Wouldn't wish that wiggy looking dinosaur on any contestant.

"entire discipline" sounds a bit dodgy to say the least.

I sense a fuse getting to critical level.

I must admit I find the personal dislike of people towards someone I imagine they've never met amazing.

His ballroom is excellent. It may not be to your taste but that doesn't alter the fact.
