Is Windows phone taking the budget smart phone market?

Just something I'm noticing, cheap Lumia's popping up everywhere, I myself have a Lumia 620, the Mrs a Lumia 610, at work I have noticed several Lumia 520 over the past weeks.

I know myself there is nothing as painful to use as a cheap android and Windows phone even on crappy hardware still runs buttery smooth.

It's been happening for a while now - will be interesting if people picking up the budget handsets will move up to the more powerful Windows handests or move on to Android/iOS - or of course stay where they are.

There's no money at the bottom end but Microsoft/Nokia have had to navigate there to try and get things moving. The real test will come when they attempt to go 'up market' I guess.

To be fair, I've been using a Lumia 820 for tethering at work and it's been brilliant, really snappy and much better than I thought.

Still work to be done though.
