Why does music get released three days earlier in Ireland?
Always wondered why albums and singles get released in Ireland three days earlier then in the UK.
For example, The Wanted's new album releases at midnight in Ireland whereas in the UK we have to wait until Monday to get it. I guess it has to affect sales as I've seen so many albums leak 1-2 days before release in iTunes format. |

I'm not 100% sure why, but I'm not complaining as it means I get my music earlier than you guys do
It makes me feel good

The Irish Chart is released each Friday so that is probably why. I know NZ and AU chart is released every Friday, hence also the reason why singles and albums get released on Friday, the previous week, in most cases. So, the Irish, NZ and AU chart compiles the sales from Friday-Thursday.

The windowed release model is a load of bollocks that does not work in the Internet era. I would say it is a rather major driver for piracy (not just with music). Making people wait while other areas have certain content is just idiotic these days.

Sony have cottoned on, as an example the new One Direction album is being released on the same day worldwide, regardless of when the chart week begins in certain countries. |

I wouldn't worry too much about that. It'll probably get No 1 anyway just because it's 1D  They could release a single or album of themselves farting and it would still get No 1.

My brothers and I used to record ourselves farting and burping when we were younger. Should have released it as a record, could have made a few bob
![]() Maybe that's what 1D will do next year. How can they churn out rubbishy albums every year? They annoy me so much
