Tried watching a programme using Demand 5 on my Samsung UE40ES6300 and the buffering got worse and worse until I gave up and switched to the laptop which was fine. Anyone else have the same problem? Very rarely use Demand 5 so can't tell if this is a new issue or not. Other Samsung Apps for iPlayer and 4oD etc all play fine so it wouldn't seem to be a speed issue

Same problem here with the Samsung UE32ES5500. It's not our internet connection as it happened with our previous supplier (BE at 10Mbs) and now with Plusnet at 70Mbs. We are not using wifi for the TV so that rules out any issue there so all it can be is either the app on the TV or their end.

Demand 5 has a permanently set bitrate at 1500kbps, unlike other platforms which use a variable one. In fact, variable is also the method used for iPlayer and 4oD which could explain why buffering doesn't occur - the video quality will drop if bottlenecks occur.

This could be one reason, as even if you have a really wide broadband connection, it could still fluctuate at times and with no way to compensate for this, buffering could occur.

It is odd why Demand 5 do this as their website uses a variable bitrate.

Same problem here, have always had this issue and its only with Demand 5. I'm on a 40Mbps Fibre optic connection but still get the buffering issues. I've tried contacting Channel 5 about it in several ways, email, twitter and through their facebook page but have never received a response.

The Demand 5 app on Roku however works flawlessly, as well as streaming without a hitch there are also no adverts.
