Thought you must be away, you usually answer any hound dilemmas pronto

We are waiting on the results from the sample, thanks goodness for girl dogs and saucers!!

My friends cat suffers with crystals, poor thing yowls with pain.

The health reasons are usually to check the girls parts are working properly and to allow bones to grow in some breeds that are slow maturing (they need the hormones to grow strong and straight).”

Yes, a few dribbles isn't much to cope with, but following your dog round with the kitchen towel and disinfectant as she continuously leaks definitely is!
I wouldn't advocate leaving them unspayed, but wouldn't do it at 6 months after what I read on here and what our vet told me.

Yes I was in the sun, sorry!

I reread my post and realised it made bugger all sense, that's what happens when I type at 5am! It should of said 'urine sample' but I figure u deciphered it!

Crystals in dogs are a bit easier to manage than cats, primarily due to the size of the urinary tract. It may not be that, but it would be my first guess if she's had no issues before. Was her wee dark yellow or clear?

Well I still think the wee is easier to deal with than a painful death but I guess I am less worried about urine stains, we bought a carpet washing machine and have washable throws on the sofa and her bed is easily washed too. If I have to wash everything everyday I prefer that to losing her.

I have to admit a week away from the internet and phones was heaven. But I couldn't of gone any longer without seeing my four legged family members!

Just to add that my dog who has mild steroid induced incontinence is dry on the Incurin and is down to 1/2 mg a day. I am glad of this because on the 1mg her appetite was slightly affected but now everything seems back to normal.
I resisted going down the med route for weeks but I was concerned about her getting an infection. Also I didn't think it good for her to wear a nappy all the time - and consequently didn't catch her in time on every occasion.

Sunshine Not jealous!!

Yep, totally got what you meant. The wee was very yellow and quite cloudy. Will get onto the vet today and chase up the sample. There have been no other incidents since I posted about this. I had no idea what a common problem this is for the older girls, but to be fair its common for human older girls too!!

We have had no carpet downstairs for years, as it isn't practical with the animals we have had. Just rugs that can be shampooed and hung out on the line to air. We enjoy having the animals more than carpet, it's a no-brainer!
But our dog had to go into nappies, even so. And we lost her anyway. After 5 months she was diagnosed with bladder cancer and was euthanised the following day on her sofa.

Sounds like an infection or crystals if it's dark coloured, but I'd chase them anyway, I hate waiting!
