It would only take 5 minutes and it could happen about 6pm on Saturday. It would take away some of the producers' control but also end one aspect of the show that viewers believe is manipulated.

Totally agree, a great idea & that's how it should be.

With modern technology, computerised backgrounds, automated stage and extra revenue generated by fans tuning in to see the draw I'm sure they'd manage.

Maybe they could do an online vote and you can put the acts in order, worth X points, then they just go by that.

Or they could have a Friday night Xtra Factor discussing song choices, showing the acts in rehearsal etc and do it during that.

I want a draw because I think it's fairest. Online polls can be fiddled, multiple votes etc, plus popularity can be swayed by air time etc. Who would have voted for Lorna, for example. Noone knrw who she was.

I think BGT is worse. It always seems to be the producer's favourites that get the last slot of each semi final.

As much as the running order is manipulated, it's also to ensure that the show runs well. If it was random, you could have a really dreary performance opening the show, all of the upbeat performances one after the other, an entire category out of the way by the first ad break. It just wouldn't work.

I like the Friday night Xtra Factor idea tho.

A midweek show or two helps keep the momentum and interest going. It would give us something to talk about here too. It gets a bit quiet by Wednesday because people run out of things to talk about.

Unless I'm here.
