Tesco Hudl - Removing Themed Widgets

I've just picked up one of these. It's fine, except there's a bloody great 'widget' on the home page, which I'm finding very annoying.

It's for the 'Let's get started' manual, and I thought that by going through it and ticking off every section, it would then remove it. It didn't!

A review I read said these 'themed widgets', as it can called them, can be removed, but didn't explain how. Does anyone know? (But if it involves installing 'root access', a dozen linux system apps, and following some seriously hairy procedures as I saw on one site, then forget it!)

(The tablet is for kids, I just want enough room on the home page to put all their stuff on, and this thing is in the way)

Same as ap, press and hold , a cross should show at the top of the screen. Holding the widget move over the cross, background turns red, move your finger and widget should disappear from you screen.
Also if you don't want the tesco things to run disable them
