I spent hours as a child watching her make pastry, never weighed anything and could whip up a batch in minutes. I always hoped to be given the leftover scraps to make sugar pastry with....mix in sugar, roll out into shapes, bake and scoff!

Indeed plus it'll be even better as Mum's had time to do it the day before rather than in the morning. Mmmmmm!

Oh fun times. I think I'm probably having toad in hole & some pasta for my tea haha. I think it's going to be a very meat filled week somehow Sausages today, lamb mince (I think) tomorrow, probably chicken on Christmas Eve (from a takeaway), Turkey, bacon and sausages on Christmas Day, don't know about Boxing Day & then god knows what on Friday

We are having fish on CHristmas Eve, turkey on the day [with pigs in blankets etc] and leftovers on Boxing Day and probably for days thereafter as well

Lots of peeps aren't keen, but cooked upside down in its own juice it transforms into succulent meat. Right way up it can be dry Tis true, kids everywhere would rather have burger and chips and the parents attention!

One year I tried a Nigella recipe involving marinating the bird in a bucket of all manner of shizz - it went BLACK in the oven but boy, it tasted fabulous!

Before I took ill, I used to compile a festive themed quiz for my family for after Christmas lunch.

It has taken a break for the past couple of years.

I've just spent the last hour compiling one for this year, and boy, if feels good

I remember the year we gave them Twister. Whole family ended up playing it in our pjs for hours meaning I forgot to put the turkey in so dinner was very late This did not go down well with the Grandparents who expected it on the table at 1pm

I love quizzes and parlour games at Chrimbo! My niece always did the quiz from when she was about 8 years old. Then we'd play hunt the thimble and do charades, which where most of the adults were nissed was quite humorous

Part of Christmas is the games. Can't just sit and watch TV all day.

I mean, Blackadder on the night time is fine, but apart from that

Nah I disagree, when I was a child we had SOOOOOO much fun at Christmas including dinner. All I remember about those are opening presents & one of the dinners lol. Then I remember the last 13 (soon to be 14) Christmases in this houe. Except 2011 as I wasn't there. I'll never be able to forget that I missed it. Still wish I could turn back time for that one event. Hey ho.
