I hate Samsung Kies!

Actually I'm not keen on my Samsung Wave Y (Bada) phone anyway - I just wanted a simple smart phone..
So my sister has three mobile nos - which I can't label apart from 'mobile' so I get confused...
She isn't using one at the moment - so I thought I'd delete it...but managed to delete the whole contact
Never mind they are on my sim card anyway - as two sep nos, set to not display - so transfer from sim to phone - should be easy (was on my old crappy phones anyway) - except it isn't (later found out I have to go to contacts in the settings to do it)
Never mind - haven't backed my phone up for a while - I'll plug it into my computer and use Kies - should be really easy...
45 minutes of swearing later - updating/failing to update/backing up/not being able to view the contacts on the phone (had to reconnect 3 times - even though it said it was connected!)
By then I'd done it on the phone - but had two contacts for her - cue reconnecting faff again ... tried to merge them -not possible - ended up copying and pasting the number from one contact to other
Then realised I'd would have been better writing it down on a piece of paper just making a new contact...
Please someone else tell me it isn't just me - Kies is the most useless, crappy, non-user friendly software EVER
(And it isn't a compatibility thing - my laptop is Samsung too! -they should love each other....)

I think the problem is you. .. not kies...

Kies is truly a Samsung software product. Bloated, buggy and unnecessary.

Kies doesn't exist to me. Biggest pile of junk I've ever used.

Samsung Kies has always worked well for me, and it's a great piece of software.

Its the worst software I have ever used. Put me off Samsung tbh.

Uninstall it and use AirDroid.

Get the app for your phone and use it via you PC browser to transfer files and view settings, even make texts and calls from your pc.

Samsung Kies like others have stated is just plain awful. It has to be one of the worst pieces of software I haver ever used.

The compatibility issue would be with the OS as opposed to the laptop itself.

But yes it can be extremely user unfriendly, I actually scream inside my head if I hear a customer phone and hear the K word.

Much prefer to tell them to back contacts up to Google.

So glad it isn't just me ...
Mark & Scooby - it probably is me - but it can't be described as user friendly then can it?..
I have been using computers for 20 yrs+ - if it was 20 yrs ago I wouldn't be frustrated with it - would be rather impressed - just now surprised it is so crap...

Laptop is Windows 7 so not really really ancient...

Had to stop it synching with Google contacts ...for my job I have contact lists in my Gmail of a hundred or so email addresses - I don't want them (and probably shouldn't have them) on my phone ...but it insisted on transferring them all (not even in groups!) -maybe I could have stopped them but figured it would be more inconvenient working out how to do that that just stopping it synching ...

What's that based on then? Kies is well known for being awkward at times

Kies randomly recognises my Galaxy S3, it crashes far too often and generally slows down my PC while it's installed.

You can download the Samsung USB drivers without KIES> Google it. I would never install KIES, ever.

When I had my Galaxy S2, I initially installed Kies because I was under the impression it was the way to manage your phone. I must have had it on my PC for about half an hour and never installed it again, even when i got my S3.

Horrible, horrible piece of software.
