Being watching some of the old episodes on UK Gold this weekend. Still a fan of Eastenders but dont look forward to watching it now as much as I did in those days. Some of those old episodes are absolute classics. What does everyone else think?

Yeh I agree with ye, I still watch the show but back then it was by far the best soap on the box, some fantastic storylines. Its good to relive them all.

After watching the Zoe-Kat one it was Tony Jordan and John Yorke who did it so if they can get EE back to that it will soon be the best on the box again.

And for the people who keep saying Michelle Ryan cannot act they should have watched it she is one of the best in without a doubt.

Absoloutely the "Dream Team" were behind the scenes back then and it wasn't that long ago either, so it could well be brought back to that kind of standard. Overall, at that time of Kat and Zoe, there wasn't a dud storyline to be had on Enders, we had Lisa and Mark hiding Louise from Phill, we had Sharon just back at the Vic with Phil and him pressurising her to start a family, we witnessed the harrowing but superbly acted Little Mo and Trevor storyline. Again, it wasn't like all that was ten or fifteen years ago either, it could well be brought back to that kind of standard.

In regards to Michelle Ryan, she is a fab actress and can only work with what she's given, which has been rubbish.

I only watched a few eps but what I did see was great. I love it when UKGold shows these old eps, like at Christmas.

Seeing Adam Woodyatt talk to background music of "Celebrate Good Times" was a treat, too.

Oh yeah i noticed those credits at the end of that episode and was pleased that they are both back with the show now.

I do think MR is an OK actress, but Zoe is just so bloody annoying i can't stand her! And those shoulders and her hair are just eww! lol

I loved watching the old episodes.

It was interesting seeing the first episode, it was fab. Really gritty, very realistic, the dialogue wonderful. It all looked so dowdy, Reg Cox's house was a right state, the walls all crumbeling. I like that aspect as people do actually live in those conditions.

Anyway the best episode for me was Carol Jackson and Bianca showdown over Dan. The acting was amazing, who was behind this?
I think this was MUCH better than the Kat/Zoe episode.

As i watched it was apparent that the show had so many strong female characters and strong characters in general. They were all so fab.

Matthew Robinson was behind it. I cannot remember which writer it was though Sarah Phelps was talking about it at the beginning.

And you are right about the strong women I feel that out of all the soaps Eastenders always gives us the best and most realistic females.

Yes we need more strong women like Carol and Bianca, Chrissie being an excellent start.

Some of those classics were excellent - shame there couldn't be more! Some of the episodes they missed were...

Dot & Ethel 2 hander 1987
Lofty & Michelle's Wedding 1986
Eddie Royle Murder 1991
Queen Vic Fire 1992
Arther on Cat & Mouse 1989
Baby Hassan's Cot Death 1985
Hostage at the Queen Vic 1994
VE Day 1995
Isle of Dogs darts trip/Frank meets Pat 1987
EE15 - Bomb Scare 2000
Lou's death 1988
Clacton dance trip 1989
May Day Celebrations 1992
Miss Queen Vic 1992
Ian/Cindy/Wicksy triangle 1990
Arthur's funeral 1996
Andy O Brien get's killed 1986
Den & Angie in Venice 1986

The next EE weekend's on UK Gold should be EastEnders 1985 - 1995 & the following wkend 1995 - 2005 That'd be good - they could show loads more classics.

Shame EE Revealed is no longer a weekly magazine programme with Jayne Middlemiss - that used to be really good with interviews/behind the scenes etc - I asked UK Gold if they had plans to show it when they reached 1998 a few years ago but they said no

More EE DVD's are needed too me thinks
