Voters are always way harsher on female acts than on males. Every single year. Just look at some of the celebrations on here when it was announced Tamera was in the bottom. People were celebrating 'taking her down a peg or two'. A 16 year old girl. It's disturbing. Nicholas is practically the same age, it's not like people are baying for his blood just for existing.

They are harsher on girls in general, but not always.

2008:
4 females and 2 males in Top 6.

2010:
3 females and 2 males in Top 5.

2011:
4 females and 1 male in Top 5

I think the problem this year is that the girls are just not likeable. Out of the 3 girls Abi is the most likeable and this is why she has not been in the bottom 2 as of yet. granted she is not the most talented but she is likeable and as we know the British public often vote on likeability.

Feel a bit sorry for Abi, but shes not very good. She is getting by on sympathy votes...she'll be out within two weeks. I like Hannah but think Tamera is overrated and the media reports were bound to count against her.
Females do have a tough time in this competition. Sam could just go on stage and stand in silence but still gget the votes.

More like 10th year in a row- only 3 female winners and 1 female runner up as opposed to 6 male winners and 8 male runners up. Definitely getting worse though. I suspect Sam B is attracting the votes of the very small number of voters who are willing to vote for a female act.

That's because the biggest section of the voters are teenage girls who just vote for who they fancy the most. It has nothing to do with the singing.

I do think a lot of the female acts are quite similar though, like Tamera, Sam Bailey hannah are all quite ballady heavy, and Sam Bailey is the best at the moment. Tamera has potential, but Sam B is the one currently delivering. The problem with Tamera is they keep overpraising her as if she's worldclass already.

Probably. The Voice has a more older audience (even though it has a high young % of people too) because it's on BBC1 and the 2 winners have been women, who are not particularly attractive in the general sense. Younger males don't really do that well on there.

Leah was a runner up on there and wish she had won, BUT she probably wouldn't have gone to the final in X Factor because of the themes and the fact females don't do as well than on The Voice.

Abi was the only real likeable one but she's ruined it with being awful in the live shows!

I like tamera but I do agree similar to Ella last year.

Whatever happened to her wasnt she due for world domination by now

I'm finding it difficult to pick a fave out of Sam Bailey and Tamera, because I think Tamera will get better, whereas Sam will never be any better than the level she is at now, but at the moment Sam is doing the better performances.

And the producers always want a boy winner if they can. The whole thing is a farce really.

I'm not pulling the race card here but I think if you are a black female on this show, historically you do get a harder time - most black ladies on the show constantly battle with the bottom two even though they're excellent vocalists. I'm not saying the voting public is racist, obviously this isn't the case as we have had Alexandra and Leona as two excellent winners but maybe since then it's harder for a viewer to really connect with this type of contestant? I really cannot offer another explaination because abi is clearly terrible, hannah and tamera are not.

To be honest since they have won you only have had Stacey and Amelia really having a chance to win.

I always felt that if Stacey Solomon and her personality could not win a female and a younger one would never win again

Coincidence I think. A few of the black females have had bad press whilst being on the show, hence why they don't come across as likeable to the public. There hasn't been a white female winner on X Factor (LM were a group), so people could say also, "Why do white women never win?". You're right, nothing to do with racism, maybe just the press they get.

I honestly did think tamera would win - now it's looking more and more like its gonna be a borefest final between sam bailey and Nicholas. Obviously sam is an amazing singer but is anyone exited for her post-x factor output?
