Not everybody but arguments like "No wonder they are losing all these viewers" Or "No Wonder the show is going down the pan"...It maybe losing viewers and it may not be the attraction it once was but this isn't the reason.

If the majority of people don't vote for a particular act...it usually means that

A) They Don't Like The Act
B) They Are Indifferent To Them

So if you combine those two opinions then they will cover the majority of the viewers/voters. So therefore if those particular people (Who are in a majority) are getting what they want or are not bothered about a particular act being in the bottom two...then HOW is that the reason why the "Show is going downhill"?

For the record...Its not who I would have placed in the bottom two but some people take this way too seriously. If the majority cared one way or another about saving these acts then they wouldn't be in the bottom two for that given week.

I know DS has a long history of somehow being out of touch with the voting public (Not always but a fair amount of the time...like they are with Big Brother)...But right now for the majority they just aren't cutting it.

Even if people say its just the voters getting it wrong...if the casual viewer cared enough about a particular act...then they would probably vote.

Just lighten up guys...still 6 weeks to go for this year's show

I agree. I absolutely love Kingsland and I'm gutted they're gone. I have my own perspective about what went wrong but there's nothing I can do about it so I'm not going to get really wound up.

I'd agree.

I think 10 years of XF has shown that DS is far off the mark with public opinion.

I don't vote but I can see why people don't connect with some acts

Have to agree OP but 10 years as a member of DS has taught me there are none so irrational and OTT as those who see their favourite rtv contestant isn't as popular as they thought.

For me, it's light entertainment, not to be taken seriously but I've lost count of the insults that have been thrown at me and other FMs for daring to have a different opinion.

Oh, and for the record, I think the 'they thought you were safe and so didn't vote' is absolute BS and only said to make the act feel better about themselves.

None of these people will be international mega stars so just enjoy the ride folks and don't take it seriously

It's a bear pit on here every year while X Factor is on.

As soon as it's over, most people seem to forget the majority of the contestants.they were arguing about for weeks on end.

Ditto BB and at least XF contestants have some sort of talent. The BB forum gets heated to the point of bannings over people just managing to stay alive for 10 weeks

People do take it far too seriously on here - I certainly do enjoy the ride indeed. In this show, you will expect twists and turns and you need to be prepared for it. Tamera is my fav act but if she went tonight, so what? I won't lose sleep over it - like you said it's only a show

I can't think why you say that. It's hard to come up with an alternative explanation for last year's Ella/James Arthur bottom 2, for instance - I wasn't impressed with either of them, but a lot of folks were as was evidenced by James' vote thereafter.

I've voted in the last three series, not in this one yet, but I don't think I've ever bothered spending money on voting for someone until I thought the point was reached where they were at significant risk of leaving the competition.

Its true. I can't remember the FM's name, but I recall them being a militant fangirl of Matt Cardle (she even thought those lime green trousers were a good look ) and you could not shut her up for weeks when he won.

Fast-forward to the start of the next series, and she was genuinely asking who had won last year because she'd forgotten.

I'm afraid you are quite simplistic in your analysis of why people vote. You only have to read the forums to see that there are concerted efforts to get rid of the lovely Tamera and others. People have weird and wonderful reasons for voting, not all to do with the competition. You can include jealousy, envy, all kinds of motivators. But also, there's the competitive element, where viewers become so enmeshed with their favourite that they join forces on forums and batter down any opposition - it becomes a personal battle, a war even, quite tribal in fact.

It happens with Big Brother, I'm a Celeb, Strictly - I don't think half the viewers even realise it's a competition other than the fact that they are competing with other viewers to be the one who gets the winner!!

Being honest being Jealous/Envious wouldn't prompt me to spend money on a reality show.

The forums make up a minority of the viewers of the show...it may be reduced but its still pulling around 8 Million...I doubt 1/10th of them are on X Factor Forums

That made me laugh.

I remember the winners as well as some decent contestants from previous years, but most of them I forget as soon as they're off screen. Mind you, I am going senile early. It amuses me how quickly this section of the forum dies down within a couple of weeks of the show ending.

I'm sure most viewers don't vote. 8m viewers and how many voters each week. I suspect more people start to vote in the latter stages (someone will enlighten us with the real statistics). Last year I guess many viewers liked James but only got into voting when they realised his lack of phone support. It will be interesting to see what happens with Tamera now.

DS provides a forum for people to sound off and generally taking the time to express an opinion means you have firm view one way or the other; hence we tend to see two extremes. those who dont care, dont bother
