All this weekend UK Gold has been showing classic eps of eastenders for its 20th anneversary. Will they be doing the same with neighbours which is celebrating the same thing later this year?

I think they should- but I'm sure they won't. They seem to enjoy ignoring Neighbours (what with the reruns currently being on at 5.35am)!

I've not heard anything that the BBC plan to do to celebrate it yet..maybe they'll wait until next year, when it's been shown for 20 years in the UK.

If the BBC aren't doing anything for EastEnders's 20th birthday, their flagship soap, I wouldnt' hold my breath for any Neighbours style celebrations either.

Didn't the BBC have a Neighbours celebration a few years ago with Dale Winton? I don't remember what they were celebrating though.

That was their 15th. I'm sure I did read somewhere on e.com that something was planned a while ago. I can't remember what it was now.

If UK Gold actually do this..what episodes would you want to be shown again? I liked The 1999 season finale, and the waterhole explosion, and joe and melanies wedding.

The very first episode, I guess the Scott and Charlene Wedding would be shown, Kerrys death, Bouncers Dream, erm, Daphne had a sad death right? I think she was on the Top 50 Greatest Soap moments so it must have been good. Oh, and I would like to see Harold falling off the cliff and the Waterhole Explosion!

You rarely see any of the old stars on these shows, e.g. Kylie, Jason, Guy Pearce, Mark Little, the bloke on the Bill, Anne Charleson etc

Are they ashamed now?

The bloke on the Bill- you mean Daniel McPherson? He is meant to be one of the returnees isn't he? Oh, and Anne Charleston was in Crossroads.... Oh, and it looks increasingly likely that Jason will consider a cameo!

UK Gold are not doing anything for the 20th or any other milestone. It's a shame, but at least UK Gold are showing the repeats even if they are on at 5 in the morning.

If they don't give us any extra time, I wouldn't mind if they took of the normal ones and put the landmark episodes (such as those listed above) on instead. Has anyone actually contacted them?

It has been rumored that ITV and Five are making a doco for the Neighbours 20th this year.

And it has comfirmed that Grundy/Ten are making one for Australia.

Oh yeah, I heard that about ITV. Not heard that about 5 yet though. I do tend to wonder why they would make something to promote the competition though!
EDIT- Well, maybe ITV are still sulking about losing H&A and are being immature about it!

I think a Neighbours documentary would get quite good viewing figures and if the BBC aren't making one (or even if they are) why shouldn't another channel?
And look at it another way...it's more Neighbours on TV who ever makes one...
