Seems like O2 have quietly released a "O2 4G Access Bolt-on" which allows existing customers both in and out of contract to upgrade to 4G without switching tariff.
There are terms and conditions for it here:
http://www.o2.co.uk/termsandconditio...and-conditions
But the actual bolt-on isn't listed or publicised anywhere. Although some shop staff have heard of it and customer services confirm it exists - for £5 a month many existing tariffs can be given access to the new 4G service without having to switch or buy-out the remainder of any applicable contract.
So, has anyone actually used this yet? I'm tempted, given that with 7 months left they want to charge me £170 to switch to a 4G tariff...
