OOooooh, I am sooooo excited!

Torvill & Dean look amazing! Looks like the standard on Children In Need on November 15th will be extremely high!

What do you think? By the photos, it looks like Jayne & James will be dancing Latin, and Chris & Aliona Ballroom?

Also, looks like they will dance together aswell, YAY!!!!!

Big Thank You to the BBC peeps who invited them to do this, and for Chris & Jayne for taking part!

I will be in Dancing Heaven!!!!!!!!!!!!

P.S. I know this item was probably already pre-recorded, I think Force Ten said the week before the Halloween show, before the main show on Saturday. I gather Chris went back to Colorado the day after.

Thanks for that link, I'm really looking forward to that

T & D will be great. I would guess some of the Latin dances may be harder for them as weight placement on ice is so different, but lifts, Darcey's favourites - core strength and focus and Bruno's 'musicality' will be easy for these two. These are two ringahs I would be happy to see on the main programme.

from pics I think Chris and Aliona are latin and Jayne Smooth or ballroom )) These are a good two to have on the show as both have had more or less the same ballroom/latin training from their competing days

Last year, with the newsreaders, they all did a group dance and the judges chose who they thought was best from that. From the pics, I wonder if they might be doing that again and instead of having Chris & Aliona and Jayne & James do a separate dance each, it might be another joint dance, with more than one style in it (perhaps something like this?), and with them swapping partners, so that Jayne and Chris will dance together as well as with James and Aliona.

Chris and Jayne would definitely be ringers on the main programme (though I'd love to see them do it anyway!) but they're the perfect contestants for CiN and we should get to see some very good dancing

According to this week's Radio Times Chris & Aliona are doing an American Smooth to "Dance with Me", and Jayne & James are doing a Tango to "Ain't That a Kick in the Head?"

Thanks, I guess I was wrong

I think Chris & Aliona might have the more crowd pleasing dance. I can't remember, is Strictly CiN a judges' decision only or is there also a studio audience vote, as per the Christmas Special?

Usually it's a studio audience vote, but last year it was a judges' decision a la the dance-off, although it was Russell vs. the Great Titted Trout so not a 'normal' competition.

You're right! Russell vs. the Great Titted Trout was indeed last year. (I probably didn't remember because I couldn't bear to watch it and so wiped all memory of it from my mind!) I thought the newsreaders were last year but they were the year before. I thought the newsreaders was judges' decision too? Oh well, never mind. We'll find out soon enough how it'll work this year. But if it is a studio vote, I definitely think that with an AS, Chris has the more audience pleasing dance.

EDIT: The newsreaders was also a judges' vote only.

Thanks for the pics! Love T&D - can't wait. They will make that transition from ice to the ballroom so easily. If you ever need to see how a rumba and a paso should be danced, just watch them.

I agree - their 1994 set dance rumba is the best ever seen - unbelievable that they didn't win that year.

They woz robbed. Robbed, I tell you! Unrivalled in the "being robbed" stakes until Lisa Snowden did for Austin Healey in the D-O on the darkest day of 2008.

Having said that, the lady of the victorious pair (Oksana Gritschuck?) is the hottest thing ever to lace up a pair of skates, so it wasn't all bad!

Agreed. That Rumba and their Paso Doble from 1984 are regarded as the definitive versions of those dances on ice.
They're also done a number of Tangos on ice over the years. This one is amazing:

Love the YT links - a trip down Memory Lane and they were definitely robbed!

Quite a daunting prospect for the dance pros too, I should think. Chris Dean has way more choreographing experience than Aliona!

She'd only have to watch the most recent series of Dancing on Ice to cure her of the notion that he's a better choreographer than her.

DOI is mass choreography for novice skaters and in no particular style, so don't use that to judge Chris' choreograhy. I rather think that Chris could probably out-choreograph Aliona on most of the ballroom dances, although I don't know that he's ever done an American Smooth before. Although, to be fair, there's a definite difference to doing the dances on the ice and on a dance floor, so Aliona has the advantage there!

I am beyond excited to see this.

I'd love to see both of them on the real show

Aliona knows 'ballroom'n but I hope Chris didn't let her have free rein with the choreo.Remember that overwrought pretentious pseudo-contemporary AS she inflicted on poor gullible Matt Baker.

p.s. Being totally biased,I would love to have seen Jane with Pasha.

^^^BIB I would have liked to have seen Chris and Jayne with Vincent and Flavia. I know they're not doing the show this year but it's possible they might have been willing to do CiN if asked.
