It was the rule for a long time but in ice skating, the rules and requirements are continually developing - in fact, one rule was added as a direct and another as an indirect result of Bolero. Required elements in the free dance are fairly recent, the free dance used to be just that: free of specific requirements, although some things were forbidden. I think the requirements might have been added to the free dance after some aspects of the competition were taken out of the early stages.

I don't understand why they have to partner jayne with james. Couldn't it be pasha so i can fully support them.

I think Pasha was still in at the time this was recorded. James and Aliona were the first two pros out so were able to do the training with T&D. (Bump!)

Thanks for that but the link doesn't work?

I never thought I'd be looking forward so much to watching anything on CiN!

Me too!

I managed to thankfully see T&D on Loose Women today, it was a very nice interview, and they seem really thrilled about their dancing on CiN. I really hope that next year when DOI is finished they will take part in the whole series of SCD, they would be great!! (And it has always been Jayne's fave show!)

Jayne said that their dance goes on for 3 minutes rather than the usual 1.5 mins, and they had to learn alot of choreography in 5 days. And yes, they will dance together aswell as with their pro partners.

They talked alot about the final series and tour of DOI too and why they quit. Next year's DOI will be an All Star line-up with past champions, so thankfully we should get some quality skating and performances!

On the DOI Tour to follow, the last night will see the final performance of Bolero........

Thanks for that. I'll have to look out for that episode of Loose Women. That's another thing I didn't think I'd say!

By the way, I worked out the link: substitute "b a l l e t n e w s" in the web address for the row of asterisks.

I wish I could go to the final DOI tour, I think it'll be amazing this year, but unless I win the lottery that's not going to happen... of course, in order to win the lottery, I actually have to by a ticket!

Some news about the current British Ice Dance Champions, Penny Coomes and Nick Buckland, who will be competing in Paris this weekend, in the TEB GP.

http://metro.co.uk/2013/11/12/nick-b...edure-4182014/
Nick wrote a metro blog about a recent heart procedure for the Tachycardia that affected their Freedance performance at last year's Worlds, making them drop out of the Top 10.
So pleased to read that he's made a full recovery, but how scary for such a young man to go through such a procedure!

That was very interesting, thanks La Rhumba. I hope Nick is fully recovered and wish hm and Penny all the best of good luck over the competitive season.

You're both very welcome, and thanks to you too for posting.

Nice to have some fellow Torvill & Dean/Skating Fans to chat with.

I hope I dont sound rude saying this but you can get a cheapish ticket for £32.50 - I know its still quite alot of money but the tour until end March/beginning April next year so if you saved and bought last min.......just an idea.....

EDIT actually ignore me, its not just the cost of the ticket, its travel arrangements etc - sorry

LOL! T&D are on first, around 1pm, before Micheal Ball.
If someone posts it on Youtube, I'll put the link.

Thanks for the encouragement but I'm not in mainland UK, so it's the show ticket, the flight ticket, accommodation, travel within the UK... it all adds up and I can't justify it, I'm afraid

I know it's not the same as being there live, but I'm sure a DVD will be released of the final DOI Tour, and clips are put on Youtube every year taken by fans at the shows.
