Now, come on TerryM22, you know that's not true. Brendan has become one of the best teachers and choreographers over the years. One not quite brilliant dance doesn't mean that Sophie has given up. There's usually at least one dance that doesn't suit the celeb or they have trouble with. I think the jive was hers. I really really want to see S&B do an Argentine Tango - I think it could be stunning.

Sophie is better than Lulu, they're not even comparable. It's not Brendan that is hindering Sophie, it's Sophie that is hindering herself, at this moment.

Well there were no excuses from him on It Takes Two tonight he chivalrously placed the blame for Saturdays poor performance squarely at Sophie's door, and not once but several times, I felt so sorry for her.

It always worries me when Brendan starts getting defensive. Not a good sign. Well done to Sophie though, she at least has no illusions over her ability and how much she needs to learn and remember.

Did anyone else notice him stand up with that toe pointing demonstration to draw attention to that silly bare foot moccasin look he has started to sport again as soon as the nights have started to draw in, he does this every year lol next week will be the bare foot St Tropes deck shoe look lol

For goodness sake stop looking for faults in every little thing he does - it's getting so monotonous now.

Zoe to Sophie on It Takes Two tonight,

" Name his annoying training room habit ? "

Sophie replies,

" Do I only have to name one of them? " lolol

It was monotonous two years ago...

It is about time the mods took control of this character, he is monopolizing this Forum with his idiotic threads.

You're right. The forum has been ruined for me the last two years I don't think I'll bother next year if the mods don't do anything.

It was very refreshing to hear Sophie being realistic about her dancing abilities on It Takes Two, but I do feel that there is so much more from Sophie that she is able to give Strictly Come Dancing on her journey through the show, I have to say that I do find her much more endearing than Abbey to listen to though.

Sorry Terry, the thread should read "Lulu then Victoria! - Has Brendan let Sophie down badly? - Should he have simplified the choreography?

Normally I avoid his threads like the plague and don't reply to his posts for the reason you stated above but I get so annoyed at his constant attacks on Brendan for nothing that I had to respond this time. However I'm now putting him back on ignore.

If I can side step the spelling and grammar appreciation aspects of this thread I do think there is something about Brendan and his partners.

So many have been sort of soft or floppy in the middle. The degree has varied from partner to partner but many of them have had this lack of core tension or failure to develop core technique. I have wondered before if something about Brendan is the common denominator. Victoria of all people must have had abdominal muscles of steel.

Perhaps he just doesn't put much emphasis on it.

It is actually quite a difficult thing to convey to someone who is not already familiar with core strength so maybe he just can't explain it to his pupils.

No, the thread should read - "Yet more pointless, repetitive rubbish that many posters will read, get irritated by, yet respond to."

Oops.

Not at all olive, I have commented on a few minor annoyances from the interview on It Takes Two last night but my thrust is simply, has he let Sophie down ? and why has he not made the most of Sophie's obvious dancing talent ?

There is no disputing that he is a talented dancer, he has learnt a considerable amount from all the time that he has spent with.Anton in the past.

well said, and I wont be posting in here again as waiting for it to drop off the front, as it appears to be same old, and in reality Brendan is a top Pro, and wons SCD, been in another final.

Interesting points. My reading of Victoria's 'floppiness' was less to do with actual core strength (despite Darcey's comments) than self consciousness. You can have abs of steel and look like a dishrag if you don't have confidence in yourself as a physical person. Jo Wood had similar issues. [Contrast with Mark Benton for eg, whose core strength due to obesity and knee issues is very weak but has a good sense of his own physical presence, probably due to good acting technique, and, one suspects, robust self esteem - result is a better illusion of good posture and 'purpose' in his dancing] I think my point is that, where the issues are more psychological than technical, it is much harder for the pro to do more than camoflage the issues - which I think Brendan is relatively good at.

Steps over other posters

You may be on to something here. I had forgotten Jo Wood but yes she was floppy. I had in mind, Victoria P, Michelle Williams and Lulu who all looked like new born colts. I also wondered about Fiona Phillips but can't now recall who she danced with.

You make some very interesting points here An Thropologist, I don't know if you saw their training clip? but Sophie looked totally confused in that he was not explaining anything to here or conveying to her anything about what he wanted her to do.

He almost admitted that he is unable to teach when he said he wished his partners were telepathic to be able to see what was going on inside his brain.
