Don't think 3 are on PAYG
3p a min (3) vs 10p (GG) 2p a text (3) vs 6p (GG) 1p a mb (3) vs 20p (GG) You tell me which is cheaper. Also on Three's Sim Only they are cheaper than Giff Gaff GG do 500 Mins, 5000 texts and 1GB for £10. Three do the same deal for £9.90pm. GG do 400 Mins, unl texts and data for £15. Three do 2000 mins, unl data, tethering + 4G when it rolls out for £15. |

Just checked the 3 coverage map where I live and they clearly have poor indoor coverage. I don't want to freeze my bits off to send a text or make a phone call.
3 are too expensive so even if their coverage improved they would need to offer me a better deal. |

Well they have no directly comparable tariffs but there are 3 options nearby:
£18 for 2000 mins, unlimited data, 5000 texts, tethering + 4g £12.90 for 600 mins, 1gb data, 5000 texts + 4g £12.90 for 200 mins, unlimited data, 5000 texts + 4g. Still a better deal IMO |

Incidentally, I received a PAYG Three sim in the post yesterday and popped it into my phone today to see if the signal has improved.
1-2 bars indoors - however the 4 calls I made to 444 all dropped after about 20 seconds and flashed up "Call Failed", even with 1-2 bars. Needless to say I binned the sim. I'll try again next year when we move. |

444 is the top up line so should work fine?!?
I'm not going to top it up to find it doesn't bloody work am I? Like I say we're moving next year and my contract doesn't expire for another 12 months or so.... Was just weighing up my options. |

Three are upgrading their systems all this weekend, many services are not available including 333 and 444, this is the reason calls dropped to those numbers.
All systems will be back up and running from 7am Monday 11th November. You should check these things before making assumptions. |

I did, and it says it'll be offline from TOMORROW night on their website.
Quote: From 9pm Sunday 10 Nov until 7am Monday 11 Nov, some of our services will be down, including My3. Our online store is not affected. So I based my assumptions on that. It might be worthy for me in 2015 when I'm up for renewal.... |

With Giffgaff I mostly use the £10 tariff as I have wifi at work but if my usage suddenly changes I can move up to the £12 with unlimited internet without being stuck in a 12 month contract. |

Not for my usage. 3 charge £12.90 on their 30 day plan which is the nearest equivalent to my GG usage.

I did an upgrade once when I was with T-Mobile in Phones4U and they said I have to give good feedback on the text from T-Mobile or they get no commission for the sale. Maybe T-Mobile will withdraw too soon.

They do the same in EE retail. You get a survey, like when you call customer services.

Of course the survey has nothing to do with commission for the sale. Quote:

I believe you should wait until they've upgraded their systems as I've only experienced around 2 or 3 dropped calls in the 8 years I've been a customer of 3, not including todays dropped calls to 333 and 444. My friend on the other hand on EE...

Three do offer the best deals - they are easily the cheapest of all networks and I'll have been with them for 10 years when my current contract ends but both my current and last phones were mis-sold to me .
Before I got my current Blackberry I phoned them several times to clarify a few things . Unfortunately because the incorrect info was given to me on one of those phonecalls rather than the call where I actually placed the order they would not accept my complaint. So Three can go f*** themselves next time regardless. |

12 months isn't very long and presumably you want to use a phone for the next 12 months. Three is a hell of a lot more reliable than Giffgaff too.

They are just sharks and don't play fair, the only reason they get lots of customers is the pricing and force selling. Similar to TalkTalk. |
