Maybe they will perform it to a tango rhythm.
What name??

It's nice to sometimes have a song played which is actually designed for that particular dance and just goes. Currently it's like having fusion every week and I think it makes it harder for them to lean the dance because it is pasted over the track rather than intrinsic.

I clicked on this thread several times yesterday and decided not to comment. I felt that the OP had managed that rare achievement of having opened a thread and closed it with a succinct remark that said everything that needed saying. It seemed like a little piece of literary perfection I didn't want to interfere with.:

I am not sure which track they have picked - 'I would walk 500 miles' I assume. Daft choice. They will have to work hard to avoid plodding.

Ah! We are talking about a band rather than a lobby group - "Proclaimers for Tango". I was about to order banners and t-Shirts from VistaPrint.

I really do wonder what planet these pros are on when they are deciding what music to use for a certain dance and yes, I am a Karen fan!!!!!

Pretty sure most (if not all) of the time it's someone above the pros that picks the tunes - the production team etc... Doubt that it was Brendan's idea to have Victoria Pendleton's paso on a harness riding a bike to Queen's Bicycle Race, somehow.

The producers decide a short list (of naff music); the professionals choose from the list but put on an appearance that they have had a say in the music.

If Dave wears a kilt, lets all hope he wears drawers under it!!!
And will they sing it in a comedy Scottish accent?

I think this was confirmed as the music selection process a couple of years back, maybe on ITT? But this year I get the impression that more control generally has gone from the pros to the producers, e.g. Ola said she didn't choose for Ashley to wear outdoor shoes for his jive.

And Artem implied that the producers were calling the shots over things like lifts.

Things like lifts generate audience applause and ovulations.

Oh but producers decide and tell the audience when to applaud and ovulate.

They also write the judges scripts and assign the marks.

Good game. Who needs the uncertainty? We can't let theatre go to chance.

That does seem to be the case this year. Some of the music choices have been bizarre and I'm sure the pros wouldn't have chosen it themselves. Their hands are tied though as they wouldn't be allowed to comment or they would be out of a job.

I've watched Strictly from the beginning and it does seem to me that the producers are taking more decisions that should be in the hands of the pros and musicians. I'm sure there is a lot of manipulation going on. This is all to chase ratings but to me it's less enjoyable than it was in the early days..
