I watched DOTD on my surround sound set up (blu ray) and it seemed mostly okay.

But the sound tracks, particularly the TARDIS sounds and most other special effects, seem really muffled and echoed out. Also, the sound was a bit quite.

Annoying considering they sacrificed the 3D version to get rid of audio cock ups.

My Sunday Doctor Who watching group and myself finished watching the actual The Enemy of the World this last Sunday (as opposed to the reconstruction). It was nice actually seeing the story and it made a lot more sense that way. Although, it still took a weird left turn at the end of Episode Four when the people living underground are revealed. Anyways, the ending is still very strange to me. So Salamander falls out of The Tardis into deep space? Is that it? It just seemed weird.

I also noticed that the Blu-Rays of Series 1-4 have already been released independently in Australia. Does anybody have any knowledge of when they will make their way to the US or the UK? Hopefully it will be sometime in 2015.

Oh, and I watched Paradise Towers the other night. It felt very much like Judge Dredd. The characters were all insane, but the Zombie Hitler guy was hilarious.

Yep, they were released in New Zealand and Australia in December last year, around the time of the 50th. I own them and they are really good! The new cover artwork is amazing. I really don't know why it's taken so long to get to the UK, as it is just the UK discs in AU/NZ Packaging.

A poster on the missing episodes facebook page has been contacted by the bbc enquiry line, who say they plan to release UWM next year...!

A rumour has popped up on the frontios section of gb that whlle no missing episodes have been found the classic range will be rebranded in 2015. There will be boxsets and special editions similar to the revistations boxsets. Web of fear and enemy of the world will be re released with extras. Underwater menace is prepped to go and will be released feb or March. It has been delayed by the missing episode rumour. The article contradicts itself that marco polo is prepped and will be announced. I am taking this rumour with a very large dose of salt.

Seems very odd indeed seeing as they've only just re-branded some of the nuwho seasons to more closely match the classic series DVD's, (which in itself seemed like an odd decision to me). Personally I would have preferred it they could used the relevant era specific logos for each release of the classic series DVD's instead of making them all look matchy-matchy.

Considering the rumour comes from Eddie of outpost skaro fame I will take this with a mountain of salt.

Screw special editions and repackaging; can we not just have Blu ray season boxsets? For the 60's episodes, they can just animate the episodes in their budget and assuming there are no more found episodes, just use telesnaps.

I would absolutely love that, but I figure that they are going to flesh out the DVD inasmuch as possible before they properly start on the 20th Century stuff with Blu-Rays (Spearhead From Space notwithstanding).

The only reason i would say Blu Ray is because it can hold a hell of a lot more space than DVDS can. Plus, if they made it so that the crusade, Mission to the unknown and the underwater menace were all animated exclusives to the boxsets, plus all the other special features, i am pretty sure all the classic who collectors would buy these boxsets straight away.

In reality we will get underwater menace sometime next year and that will be it finito benito unless the missing episodes are handed over to the bbc.

Well I've solved my Invasion of Time problem as I've found the Dvd at Cex, along with the Sea Devils, Claws of Axos & surprisingly The Tenth Planet.

How long has Deep Breath been out on Dvd as someone has already traded a copy at Cex?

It's pretty clear that UWM is delayed until Worldwide have a definitive answer regarding whether Phil Morris has either/both (or neither) parts 1 & 4.

8th September. I find you get a fair few things in cex in the week of release. Doesn't take long. My 1 had sons of anarchy 6 and big bang 7 2 days after they came out.

Why buy them if you're gonna trade them a few days later, unless you get an upgraded copy like the remastered Classic series dvds if you have an older version?

Remember seeing Web Of Fear not long after release in there too!

I assume people buy the discs then rip digital copies and flog the discs on?

That s what I thought. I like cex. I have picked loads of bargains from there and traded a lot of doctor who dvds that I had double dipped like day/time of the doctor and classic special editions.

I haven't used CEX yet but someone on DS (possibly on this very thread) mentioned them some time ago. I definitely need to give them a try as I have a load of duplcates to offload.

Does anyone know if they take the Big Finish audio CDs?

Don't seem to see any on the cex website

Not very many special features, and they even managed to miss out the ones from the vanilla release already!

Hope more get announced soon, or i might just skip the next few season boxsets and get a seasons 1-10 boxset or something like that when it comes out.

I am not impressed by the extras on the s8 set. No minisodes, trailers, original documentaries, video diaries. Instead padded out with more bbc america documentaries. Lazily put together.
